Default Unusual Vintage - Okumurayuki Victory

I picked up this vintage machine last night from someone who answered my Craigslist ad, and I don't think I have ever seen one quite like it anywhere on this board or on the Internet.

It is an Okumurayuki "Victory" model (first time I have heard of this manufacturer) and what makes this one so unusual to me is that it has eight tulips on the front!! The mechanics on the back are also different from any other machine I have seen, particularly the area around the jackpot payout mechanism.

It is in very good condition except for the usual grime, dust and spider webs, and the cell has a little bit of staining. The overall design quality is not at the level of a Nishijin (more plastic, less metal) but all of the parts are present and there doesn't appear to be anything that is broken. I offered the guy $35 for it and he was very happy.

Anyway, I wanted to post some pics so that I could see if anyone else has seen one of these before and/or could tell me more about it.

    Thanks!

    Jeff

The upper tulips are made entirely of plastic and do pass balls straight through to the the bottom tulips (made of metal and plastic). I have not played this one yet since it is missing the glass, so I think I am going to take it completely apart and restore it first, then play it awhile and decide if I want to keep it or sell it. (maybe sharmoni will be interested in having this one in his extensive collection!!)

very cool machine. i would be interested if sharmoni isn't

will be following to see how the 3 stacked tulips operate: do they open sequentially, or do they get opened by something in the center?

i would guess only in sequance... the bottom one is totaly blocked.. your never goan get a ball in that one except threw the one above.. but the upper two will open and close as balls drop from the top or threw the sides..

a truly unusual machine... looks like it would payout during a fever all the time.. but ill bet its not going to be quite that easy...

the more i look the more i like

The biggest thing is hitting all the tulips is the correct order to gain the most from it.

Say the topmost tulip opens all the tulips below it. Then the next one you want to hit is the bottom one, then the next one above it - which reopens the lowest one, then hit that one again, then the top one - which opens the other two up again - then bottom middle, bottom.

    Or:

    Top
    Bottom
    Middle
    Bottom
    Top
    Bottom
    Middle
    Bottom

Right click the thumb of the gameface picture and open it in another tab, then save that picture to your desktop, right click and select preview and zoom in a little, they can only be opened by the tulip above or whatever, but when opened, they are available. The nails to the right of the one on the left are a little tight is all

Nah, I can't imagine they would go to the trouble to put tulips on it and have them do nothing. I would think even players would have a problem with that.

Compirate is correct. I dropped a few balls through the tulips to see how they operate. I dropped the first ball in the top tulip which opened it, then the ball passed to the second tulip and opened it, then it passed into the bottom tulip and opened it, giving me a jackpot. I dropped another ball in the top tulip and it closed all three tulips as it passed through. When it reached the bottom tulip I received another jackpot. If I were to instead drop a ball on in just the bottom tulip, it would close only that one and give me a jackpot, leaving the other two open to catch more balls.

This looks like it will be a fun machine to play once I get it all cleaned up and working correctly. It will be a few weeks before I can get to it, but I will post pics and updates to this thread once I get started.

    Stay tuned!

Nice find, Jeff. I've got enough machines to keep me busy cleaning for the next decade at the rate I work on them, so I'll be appreciating it from afar. I look forward to seeing how it cleans up.

    Bump...

A much overdue update to this thread -

I completed the restoration of the machine and have posted some updated photos below. It came out quite nicely!

From a play perspective, the machine is a blast! The eight tulips on the playfield means that it can be quite generous with the jackpots! I spent hours testing it.
