Default Is the Pachislo market is going down the tube?

Big Bear started the $77.7 sale. Seems pachislo prices are going down. Many old pachislo fans might be uncomfortable with this trend because they once paid A LOT of money for their machine(s).

I just want to know how those vendors take resposibility for the value of their products. Many vendors are crossing out thier "regularl prices" and put "special prices" on. Or some vendors set up a "weekly special" and offer reduced prices. Do they really care about their customers who paid "regular price"? I really want to know what they thinking about pricing. If they keep reducing prices, I think teh pachislo market will go down the tube pretty soon because of the untrustworthy product value. Personally, I love pachislos and want it to survive somehow........:burnout:

Ever buy a new car? Ever buy a new anything? When new models come out, older models drop in value, with the slight exception of a few very rare models that will hold their own value.

I bought a $400 driver a few years back. I could get eh, about $175 for it now. I bought a Tivo two years ago, I bought an extended warranty on it. It broke, I took it back to the store and they had to give me a new one. It had twice the capacity of the old one and I got $50 back since the new one was selling for less.

If you're buying these for investment purposes, then please only buy a Harley Davidson or a Spin Luck. After that, it's a crap shoot as to whether or not they will hold their value.

I'm not really sure what you're expecting from the vendors on this one. They have product to move and having sales is common practice in ANY business.

It has been mentioned many times on this board that the prices go way down in the summer and start to rise again before the holidays. I think it is a great opportunity for Pachi lovers to get more machines than perhaps they could normally afford. All retailers have sales when merchandise is not moving as quickly as they would like it too. That is the nature of the business. Even on this board, you will find that people paid way too much for a particular machine, while another got a deal of a lifetime. I think you should only pay what a machine is worth to you, and then enjoy it.

My Mom paid $500 for her first VCR, I paid $59 for my last one.

I think it is called glut of the market place, like right now here in Iowa, you can buy Sweet corn on the cob at 50¢ doz and they will clean them as you wait. These are big ears too!
Tomato, you have to lock your car door and house door or you will have a bushel basket of ripe nice tomatos sitting there.
And don't even mention Zoo-kinney, I was left a half of a 55 gal paper drum at my door, all because I said to a customer, "I like Zoo-kinney".
Mus Mellions are 1¢ a pound.

It's just supply and demand. Those containers of machines just keep coming over. During the summer there's less demand and the prices drop. They'll go up again as we get close to Christmas.

The vendors don't care about maintaining prices to protect previous buyers investments (nor should they). They'd sure like to maintain prices, but that's only to protect THEIR profit. But, with so many pachislo coming out of the parlors every month, and finding their way to our shores, pachislos have really become a commodity. And that means there is essentially an infinite supply.

Under those conditions, there's nothing anyone can do to protect prices. They will be set by the market. And the market, on a commodity item, always tries to squeeze out as much of the profit as possible, consistently driving the "retail" price closer and closer to the actually cost to the seller.

I"ll put my 2 tokens worth in on pachislo pricing. I really don't care if someone bought a particular machine for less than I paid at the time. Yes, it has happened to me on several machines I have in my collection. But I wanted the machine at that time, and I happily paid the seller.

So maybe the price dropped a week or month or two later. I already had my machine and was playing it! I don't hold it against someone if they got it cheaper than I did, it was my choice to pay what I did, when I did. This is especially true with eBay.

What if I had waited, hoping another machine would be offered, but there were no more? What if I didn't buy a Spin Luck for $259 thinking the next would be cheaper? (This never happened, I don't own a SL.) But what if it had? Spin Luck, or Harley Davidson machines did sell for a lot less than they do now!

I don't plan on ever selling one of my machines. Perhaps my heirs will, but if they do, whatever they get for them, even if it's only $25, it will all be profit to them, and by then it sure won't bother me!

Well stated. This might continue for awhile and if you add in the knockoff conversions confusing the newbies, well... it will be very interesting to watch.

What makes you think the newbies are any more confused by the knockoffs than they are the standard pachislos anyway? In a way, they may be less confused by them and what is really fueling that market.

I side with Tony, I never considered these as an investment.

I just love playing them and I'll let my kids worry about getting rid of them when I kick the bucket

I told them to just call the guy at the flea market and take whatever he offered for them!!!!!

Oh well maybe I am confused:lmao:

(no need to go into why knockoff conversions can be confusing as you have covered this before somewhere)

    Thanks for that TULSA

I am getting to that point also Lucky. As the market gets more glutted with originals and knockoffs, I think the values of Pachislos lend themselves to be less of a collectible than what I originally thought them to be. Pachinkos may get there some year also but it would be nice to see a glut of Pachinkos right now!

There were purchased for fun for me. I always figured I could get my money back out of them if needed. When you factor in deprecation for use, that's not a stretch at all. Even the Spin Luck was purchased because I simply wanted it. Not as an investment. This one however may turn out that way.

So your coffin is going to be a custom? You will need some room in there to sit it upright to play! Better yet Arby get a mausoleum, and a coffin made so you can be set in front of a pachinko! Arby's pachinko mausoleum, room for one.

I liked the biker movie where when the guy died they put him in a chair with a beer and a cigarette.

I don't remember the name of the movie.

Investment? Collectable? And I thought they were just for fun. How come noone tells me anything.
