    Default First vintage (Kyoraku)

    Hi All,

Been awhile since I've been here, stalled on my first modern machine repairing the burn damage, but ran across a Kyoraku with balls for $25. I think it was made in '77 and it's a B style(I actually have no idea, but it's the closest I can figure). Other than that, I don't know much about it. I'm pretty sure after I get it cleaned up it's going to work great, right now it works with help. I don't think anything's missing from it.

If anyone can give me any more information on it, or confirm/deny what I think I already know, that would be great!!

    Thank you,
    Dave

looks like a complete machine.. missing a cover but its not needed

only two problems might be, the loan pachinko ball that looks lost and stuck in the lower back and it look like your missing the track cover above the jackpot.. this will have to be bought or fabricated for the machine to work correctly

nice find i would have bought it for 25.00

There are actually two pachinko balls there, I'll get them out when I take it apart to clean it all up, and I forgot to put that piece back in (took me awhile to figure out what it was for, it was sitting in the upper hopper blocking balls when I brought the machine home).

    Thanks for the replies

    Hey all,

So I got most of it cleaned up, it seemed like it was going to work without much issue, but I was wrong. When the balls are loaded and a jackpot is hit, the mechanism that the winning ball activates doesn't activate with the weight of the ball. It seems that the part that prevents more balls to load in the jackpot area doesn't move very well(circled in pictured area). I didn't take that part out and clean all the hinging areas, I'm thinking that's what I'm going to have to do, but if anyone else has any insight, I would love to hear it.

Can you move the lever manually and the mechanism does fill up?

Can't tell in picture if lower ramp cover is on or missing...

I am able to get the mechanism to work manually. it's just that the weight of the balls won't activate it.

Here's a bigger picture of the area. I don't think the ramp cover is missing.

    Hey Mopar!

Here are a few pictures of it filled with balls, from different angles:

The first few pics are with the jackpot area dust cover installed.

    Thank you!

It's a pain, I know but maybe a youtube video link would help sort it out for you.

Move the lever manually showing as much of the back in the shot as possible, then a few close ups.
Tripods are handy if you can?

I'll try to set up a video with the issue happening, pretty easy to re-create.

I see two things: might be wild goose chase...

To the right of the mechanism, there is a hole you are putting your finger in to move the lever "with some force"
    Remove all pachinko balls.
Can you take off that dust cover and see if there is anything back there binding?
Maybe a wire or a leaf switch.

At the bottom of the machine, where the pachinko ball gets stuck on the lever and won't push the lever down.
Same thing: See if there is anything back there binding? Maybe a wire or a micro switch.

While you have the balls removed: See if you can move that lever through it's paces with minimal force.

Have you removed the entire back mechanism? It looks like quick locks to take entire bottom off...

When the balls are not in there, the whole mechanism moves very freely, and there doesn't seem like anything is binding. When the balls are in, it seems that the mechanism has to move the balls in the jackpot area a little bit to move the "locking" mechanism(I don't know what the thing is called that prevents the balls from falling while the jackpot is paying out).

I have removed the entire back part(the orangeish/pinkish things) a couple of times, getting into that mechanism is a little more involved...but I think that might be my next step.

I posted another video to show how the "Locking" mechanism has to move the balls...although it doesn't seem like it has to move the balls as much as it would if I hadn't been messing with it already:
