    Default Hanabi Missing Key?

I just got a Hanabi slot machine like the one pictured from a neighbor who didn't want it anymore. Do not have a key to open it and took it to a locksmith. They couldn't do anything with it.
Is there a trick to opening it?

Hello roaddog and welcome to the group!

You can set the machine on its side and there usually is a hole on the bottom (or a piece to knock out on the bottom front right) next to the hopper. Reach up thru it to disengage to door latch.

Another way is on some machines there are slotted openings on the back that you can reach a door latch with a long screwdriver or thin bar. This would need to be long enough to reach from the back of the machine to almost the front but you don’t need to tip it over as the door itself is heavy! The door latches work together so disengaging one should release both. Also you don’t have tokens spilling out of the hopper this way.

    A few more questions...
Can you set the machine for free play where no coins are needed?
Where is the best place to purchase a replacement lock?

You might try this link on Ebay. Might work for you.

I went there and they are out of stock on the 2.75" shaft.
    I'll keep looking!

I drilled a 1/8" hole in the top of the door, directly above the latch hook. There was a hole in the hook that I tied a string to, threaded it through the hole and tied it to a key ring. Pull up on the ring...door opens. After the string broke, I replaced it with a 12 gauge copper wire. This only works if the latch lifts to unlatch. If it has to push down you have to try something else.
You could take the tumblers out (depin) of the lock, then it will open with a screwdriver.
Reaching through the hole in the bottom gets old quickly!
Sorry no pics from the device I'M using.

I have one machine that came depinned and opening is a cinch as well as doing a left turn for the occasional door reset.

Does your lock have a code number on it? Perhaps one of us have the same and could get a spare key to you?

Could your lock be 1/8 inch longer by chance as in these eBay links? Parts cost enough but the shipping can hurt
(don't forget about the hook on the end in case yours is missing)
