    Default Stupid screws!

Ok....i got a new to me pachinko. I am taking it down to clean it. Taking off the chrome frame that is rusty is essential to getting it clean. The stupid little screws around the frame will not come out! I have bent the blade on four little screwdrivers and stripped out the grooves for the screwdrivers go into on several screws. I bought a screw extractor and can not make that work either. Does anyone have any ideas....? I could drill them oit, but then i have to get the rest of the screw out too!

A good pair of needle nose pliers. If you can grab the sides of the screw head.

use a cutting wheel (or dremmel with a cutting wheel attachment) and make it a flat blade screw. make it big enough to get a little bigger screwdriver in there

I've had better success with wire cutters. Needle nose just slip off for me. The cutters will dig in and grip better.

Great idea. I have not had one I haven't been able to get with the needle nose, but will keep this in mind to try on the next problem one.

If the head is exposed I have had good luck with gas line plyers http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/pr...FYQDaQod8RoNEw

They have an area on fron with teeth made to grip a screw

I stripped one that was stuck harshly on a pocket earlier tonight. I mean.. 1 out of 2 it should still hold But this thread's been a big help to me too.

when it is time to put screw back in just a bit of toothpick and a dab of wood glue, push it in the hole and then the new screw.. the wood toothpick fills the hole a bit and the glue actually works and a lube and a binder once its hard.. be mindful a bit of glue can make a giant azz mess so keep it small

push the toothpic in and find the bottom.. cut or break the tooth pick so it does not stick out. then a smear of glue and slide it in. then the screw

If you work on stuff that uses pan head screws you may want to get a pair of these. I used to repair copy machines and printers and these have saved me countless times. Many times a rookie tech would strip the screws then it became your problem Uggg I don't miss that. Anyway these seem to be getting harder to find. If you do they want a pretty penny for them. gripping the stripped screw head on the with the front teeth and the narrow handle you can get a very good grip on it.

Anyway I was able to find them cheaper if anyone wants to add them to their tool box. Hell I even bought an extra for myself.

I am not affiliated with this seller in any way. I am just a BIG fan of this tool

I won the battle! (Thanks for the heads up on the toolmfor future reference though) between the utility knife, mini wire cutters, and a drill....all the screws are out! Yay me! Tomorrows project. Back to the hardware store for them fix the plexiglass the cut for me. " i need you to cut one of these exactly the same size" is apparently not specific enough.....grrrrrr.
