    Default Local Allwin for sale

I want to go look at an Allwin for sale about 10 miles from me.British Allwin slot machine - $300 (Vandalia) hide this posting

Penny slot machine by Oliver Whales of Redcar. Everything seems to be in working order. I messed around with it a little and got it to work a few times, but it is made to function with British pennies. No guarentees. The door is unlocked and there is no key. Make reasonable offer.
No other pics...left message, but no callback yet. I'm NOT going to pay $300 for it. That being said...what would be considered a reasonable offer? Assuming it is complete. If it looks like it is imcomplete, then I'm not interested. Trying to find parts would be very difficult.

I'll let you know how it goes. I got a call from the seller last night. He is supposed to have someone see it today that made him an offer of $250. I don't know if other buyer is real or a bluff...or a typical Craigslist buyer who never shows. If still there, I'll go look at it this evening.

I just got back from looking. I didn't take a camera. It is overall in good shape. The cell has a large split from the bottom almost to the center, about 1/8" wide at the beginning of the split. And slight buckling which may affect playability. Inside was clean and looked complete. The Plexiglas that covers the mechanics and contains the balls that win looked original, and still clear. He had no english pennies to test it with. I fiddled with the linkages and determined that it very likely works. Looked complete, as best as I could tell...I've never looked at one before. Nothing was obviously missing. Except the cash door as Scottie pointed out.
Then comes the negotiations. I knew that he wouldn't take $150...but I tried anyhow. I offered my max if $200, he said he would take $225. I let him know that I really couldn't afford the $200, and politely declined. Part of his holdout is the other potential buyer offered $250 in an email...but so far has not come to see it. Cancelled today and says he will see it on monday. Plus it has only been listed for 3 days. He says if monday is a no show...he will call me back.

excellent you still have a shot at it.
it doesnt sound like the "other guy" is that interested in it.

    f.y.i.

there is a leaver right where the coin chutes are (inside the game on the back of the door ,left hand side ) so when the penny drops into the chute it hits this leaver and releases the ball.you can just hit this with your finger and then you can test out the game to see if everything works.
another thing you can do is, open the door all the way and press on the glass upwards to remove the glass out of the door, this way you can just take the ball and place it in the winning cups to test to see if all the pay-out parts work when you turn the knob on the left side of the door to receive your pennys...

keep up posted how you make out on the game...good luck

I did remove the glass, it was very thick...like 1/4"! Dropped a ball into a win pocket, tried to turn the knob...nothing. I moved a linkage, looked at the front and turned the knob in the correct direction. The slide on the bottom of the coin tube moved. I don't know if it was the linkage, or if I tried to turn it the wrong way the first time. After all I was looking at the back, and reaching around the front to turn. I'll give it a few days...and try to not spend the money.

Missed a call from seller 2 days ago. Called 4 times that day, left a message each time. Two messages the following day. No response of any kind. The machine is still listed on Craigslist...so probably not sold. But I have bought things from Craigslist and the listing remained up for weeks. I even won 20 pennies on eBay thinking he was ready to sell.
