    Default Button/Fuse wired into transformer

I have a Penguin Paradise Pachislo slot machine. There is a red button that is wired into the transformer. Anybody know what this part is or where I can find it? I'm assuming it's some kind of fuse or breaker. The model number of the slot machine is U-RL-EO1.

    Thanks!

I'm sure it's something like that, but the hard part has been finding a replacement.

If it was me i would wire it out. Not used on any of my machines and can't think of a reason for ever needing one. Just my opinion :-D

For work I use www.alliedelect.com. (Allied electronics). If you in fact want a replacement I'm sure they can find you one.

if it were mine i would cut it out and hard wire it.. then use a surge suppressor as the on off switch..

    and of course

I agree with both Gmwd and Mopar!

I've had a couple machines with the same switch and both ended up looking just like yours. I believe "back in the day" when several companies were selling machines this was added as part of their "refurbishing process". It's a pretty cheap switch and IMO is located to close to the transformer.

The transformer can generate some heat and is probably why the switch fails, over time. I would wire it direct and plug the machine into a switched power strip. That way you can turn the machine ON/OFF without having to open the machine every time you want to it ON or OFF.

Just because someone decided to put it there in refurbishing the machine, doesn't mean it was the best place for it.

I also have this same problem on a machine I just received. I had posted on the other board also and they said to just remove it also. But I have one question - and sorry if it's dumb I just don't want to ruin the machine or hurt myself! When removing it - do I need to rewire that do I solder this together or use a wire cap etc? Again - sorry for the dumb question!

    Thanks!
    Tony

Remove the button, connect the wires from the switch. Solder is always best for connection but honestly for machines indoor I use wire caps (I use the ones with set screws to ensure they don't fall off. For better looks use heat shrink tubing the same color as the wiring

it it sounds silly but I have to say it... Always power off and unplug your machine to avoid injury :-)

i always solder them but there is probably nothing wrong with a good wire nut

Thanks guys for the welcome and the help! I was able to remove the switch and replaced it with a wire nut and wa-la! Working great! I gave it to my parents for Christmas and they love it. We're still figuring out the ins and outs but overall it's providing a lot of fun! Sorry took so long to respond - holidays kept me busy. Here's a shot of the machine.
