    Default Sammy "Fruit Field" Pachinko

    Hey all,

I just found and recovered this lovely machine during a family vacation. After browsing the forums, I found a few threads identifying it as Sammy's "Fruit Field," circa 1995.
Like other owners have noted, the machine powers on and spins the slot reels to "777" with the lights working, but I don't know how the ball launcher works. I am quite familiar with "Nishijin B" machines, but I am currently lost as this is my first machine outside of the Nishijin category.

If anyone can answer these questions, please comment! Thanks.

    1) How does the ball launcher mechanism work, when it does?
    2) How can I inspect or troubleshoot the launcher?
    3) I found and held in the reset button at startup, with no change. On one attempt the reels did stop at something other than "777," although I didn't test the rotary dial thing.

I took this photo for ID purposes, can post more if needed. Thank you so much!!

The girls will be along later to say Hi,
its a CR machine, 95% of moderns from this period require a dongle in the 25pin socket on the back of the machine, the other 5% have had the circuit board modified which you can't see at first glance, Is your socket empty in the back?

Hi Drunkenclam, thanks so much. I was reading about dongles last night. Here are some pictures of the back. Does the machine have one? If not, where does it go?
The one board is covered, not sure how to open it.

I don't see a dongle in pictures 2 or 3. Picture one is too dark for me to tell...

In picture 3, there is a yellow paint circle around the shooter adjustment screw. Try small adjustments.
Also, your hand has to be touching the metal ring for the shooter to work.

Yeah, it looks like your dongle is missing....it plugs into the old school printer port looking socket in the lower right corner of the back, yours is facing down

Thanks very much for the help, everyone! I can see the empty port. It is indeed facing downward with no need to open anything. I also see the metal ring around the shooter knob.
What are the specs on the dongle? I want to make sure that I get the correct one.

I suppose it was made under contract with Sankyo as it's their design frame and basic gameboard - Stellar 2000 frame, and a CR version at that.

I've ordered the dongle from Dave. Thanks very much to everyone for your help!
I would like to leave the thread up until the dongle arrives and I can confirm that it is working. Any further issues, and I will holler. Thank you.

    Hey guys,

My Daverob dongle is still on the way. In the process of experimenting with the machine, I was able to find the latch to open the front door and was testing the slot reels. The lone tulip in the bottom center spins the reels. After many tries, I was able to match three and started what I assume is the bonus round. However, after activating said bonus round, the machine is not acting properly at startup. The reels spin erratically and do not stop as they should, after which the playfield lights should blink in a repeating pattern (also not happening.) I know where the reset button is but have been unsuccessful in restarting the machine.

This was all without the dongle. Will it fix the issue upon arrival?

On some machines, after jackpot, they have a bonus time, normally 100 reel spins. Not sure on this model though

    Greetings again!

My Daverob dongle has arrived. As far as I can tell, the dongle works and I am getting a display of available credits. Sadly, the malfunction with the slot reels continues. They spin erratically and do not stop, preventing a normal startup.

At startup, the slot reels are supposed to spin for a few seconds and default to "777," at which point the lights on the field will blink in an alternating pattern. As it is, the slot reels spin indefinitely, with a slight wobble or hesitation. I can't tell whether or not the shooting mechanism works, although the light around the keyhole turns on when I turn the knob while touching the ring. This seems to be a good sign, but no balls are shooting. I can only guess that the machine is waiting for the normal startup and for the reels to stop at 777. I don't know what can be done at this point. Thank you so very much for reading, and any suggestions are welcome. Thank you so very much.

Check all the connections on the back. One may be loose, damaged or disconnected, perhaps the photointerupter for the reels.
