Default Back to the future machine - No sound

part of my hunt is over...I've just received the older back to the future machine by okumura. And I must say, I am completely clueless. When I first powered up the machine, there was no video. I found a connector off on the back which I reseated and now have video. but I still don't have sound. I've checked all connections and everything seems tight. But I think it might be operator error.

there are 2 buttons on the front of the machine (neither of which I can figure out) and the LED on the back inside has a number 1 on it, which I think means no balls. (the machine, not me.) I've put some in the top rear tray, but they initially just ran right through and out the bottom. I've pushed and released all of the various spring loaded ball transfer/gates and now the balls are staying in the top. the shooter works also.

I've turned up the volume control and I also jumpered it out. No luck.

any thoughts? and anybody have a manual for this, or a similar machine? thanks!

Buttons on the front are for the parlour ball loan system. Don't work unless you have a Daverob dongle. I would open the front door and make sure the speakers are actually connected and any additional volume controls are working correctly.

no daverob dongle. I "think" this machine might be too old to have a port for that, but I am not sure. I didn't see any connector in the back that would support the dongle.

I did trace the speaker wiring, and everything is connected. Do you know what the 3 position switch is for on the small board pictured? the speaker wires do go through that. I've tried different positions, but no change.

    thanks!

If it has CR prefix it should have a 25pin port somewhere unless the board has been bypassed.

As as for the speakers. Can you disconnect and test the speaker? The 3 position switch is (normally) the volume. The sound board could be faulty or disconnected as they can be too loud for some people.

Now I'm home I can see the pictures.

other things to try is bypass the pot in picture 6, some low wattage ones are known to burn out if the slide switch is set to max..
Bypass the slide switch, connect the in to the out with some jumpers, but don't short out between the wires. Or use a multimeter to check condition of switch and resistors.

thanks for all the help! I traced all wires and jumped a sounder onto the wire where it connects to the circuit board (I took it off the board first.) speakers are working when I connect the sounder. So that made me think it might be some type of fried circuit.

And then I realized, it is probably operator error. I've uploaded some pictures below. The machine does have a CR designation, but there is no port (just a spot on the circuit board.) So I don't know if it had some type of weird conversion?

Anyway, the led on the back lights up 1, then goes to 0. then back to 1. Not sure why.

when I put balls in the shooter hopper, it shoots fine. but there is no sound. I think I am not really playing the game at this point. The 2 buttons on the front actually make the screen change AND they make a sound. So I've determined sound it working. But I think I haven't "started" the game. I uploaded a video so you can see what happens when I push the buttons. Pretty sure this is a first time pachinko owner error...

The Dr's Guide to testing a modern machine.
Simple steps I go through on every machine I get.

Step 1: power one and shooter works.

If know to by cyclic skip step 2
Step 2: Fill the rear tank up with a couple of hundred balls (making sure the ball dump is closed first or it get messy)

Step 3: Open the front glass (that might trigger an alarm)

Step 4: drop a ball in the centre start pocket under the screen by hand.

Does the video reels spin Y/N
Does the machine make a sound Y/N
Does the machine payout balls Y/N (normally 3)

    Step 5:

Test all other pockets. These normally just payout balls.

    Step 6:

    Harder this one.
Check the sub roulette sensor, check for a flashing led or an X and O some where.
Then if an O (or other) does the tulip open (if tulips installed)

    Step 7:
    This might take some time.
Keep putting balls into the start pocket till a ootari/jackpot is hit.

Does the trap door open Y/N
When it does, drop in a ball. Does it trigger a payout Y/N

Drop in a further 7-9 balls.
Does it the trap door close and reopen again Y/N

thanks! I just went through everything, and it all works. I think I may have not understood somethings.

I assumed there was some type of sound, etc other than when a ball hits the jackpot. when I drop a ball in, it brings up a video clip and 3 slot machine type numbers. there appears to be lots of other lights on the machine, but I guess they are dependent on the numbers that come up on the wheel?

ball payout is workiing. and sound is good. I guess I just need to figure out what combination of jackpot(s) trigger some of the other screen scenes, lights, etc.

does anybody else have one of these that has any playing tips?

    thanks!
