Default model "C" electro shooter problem..

i recieved a vintage mordern machine.. its a late model "C" machine with the electro shooter..

hear is the problem im having..

when i touch the shooter nothing happens.. if i touch some metal on the back while truing the shooter it shoots.. so there must be something wrong with the grounding ring right?? Has anyone had one of these apart?? can they shed light where to start looking.. i have never had a reason to take a shooter apart so im a little gun shy to jsut rip it open..

im guessing i have to start in the back and remove the motor to get to the parts inside?

thanks for any help or pictures of the insides of one of these early shooters..

    obligatory pictures

You may want to contact Chumsize in case he doesn't watch this forum. I know he has torn at least one of these apart because it's now in my collection. I believe his issue was a bad pot and not grounding, but maybe he has ideas.

Same frame as I have a "Kabamaru-kun" hanemono in. I haven't torn that one apart - the machine I did need to fix was a frame or two series newer. But they're probably all the same. And that machine I tore apart had the same issue. There's a wire that runs from inside the knob and is attached via a metal screw to the ring. That wire goes to the back. The ring attachment was broken off in my machine, so it was a matter of stripping the wire and running to the back.

Let me go look at it right now to see where it attaches. Hmm... don't see it on this frame. It probably attaches on the knob inside somewhere as well. At any rate, unscrew the screw on the underside of the knob and CAREFULLY slide the guts out and take a look. You don't need to go from the back - though it may help when you go fix it. The wires have very little slack. I wouldn't recommend unsoldering all the wires to get the knob all the way off...especially with a cheap $5 soldering iron that melts the inside of the pot and forces you to go on a multi-city search for a suitable replacement and then calibrate it correctly...argh So yeah... I had a bad pot, but that was after I tried to fix the disconnected ground wire.

Here's the back... There's the a knob for shooter adjustment. The newer frames have a touch and force adjustment - touch being how much ground it needs before it starts shooting. I think this one just has force adjustment. Anyhoo... look for that disconnected or broken ground wire. That should do it. I can try to open mine some time later if you need me to get a pic of the innards.

    im back..

made some time to open the shooter.. getting the cover off was easy.. getting inside was easy.. now the problem.. there nothing in there. one wire is nicely crimped to the post on the bottom of the shooter.. no loose wires???

so i tested more.. the shooter works so long as im touching both the metal part of the shooter and then something metal on the back side

    advice please

do you know where that wire goes? (one one crimped to post). And was there any post (or threaded hole, etc) on the metal sleeve?

Aha! The pot in the yellow hole probably controls the touch. The cable running to it says "タッチ" - "touch" at the other end. Try fiddlin' with that.
