Default Are all center features interchangeable

Will a center feature from a Nishijin B machine fit on a Nishijin A machine? Do they all have the same size cutout in the playfield?

    Thanks,

Although I am not 100% certain, I think that some center features can be swapped, but not all of them. I'm guessing it would be dependant on how the center feature feeds into the ball paths on the back of the machine. If you had a center feature with 3 ball entrance/exits which fed the winning ball to the right/left/center tulip you would need to replace it with a center feature that also had 3 exits to match the ball paths on the back of the machine. Likewise a machine with a single ball exit wouldn't have the necessary ball paths to install a 3 path center feature. I am sure one of the more experienced members will come along and confirm/correct my assumptions.

    mostly right..

some would interchange but most are cut into the play-field so you would have to find one that is the exact same shape or find one bigger so ya can cut a bigger hole..

the biggest problem is the nails... at a glance the nail patter looks the same.. but if ya pay attention the nail pattern changes allot around each center feature.. so swapping out out could leave ya with a strange looking pattern..

Default Are all center features interchangeable

Also, There are nishijin ex-change machines that are made with removable cells
They were made in model B and model C forms, not sure about model A
The model B cells can be used in both style of machine ( although there's a plastic backer required if being used in a model C ex-change machine)
The model C center features are too deep to fit in a model B ex-change machine so they aren't compatible

You can change centers from any brand to any machine. But it becomes hard because many are odd shapes and the hole would have to be recut, also like mopar said the nail patters sometimes cause problems. Then you have the ball tracks on the back.

So yeah you could change it, but it isn't really worth the hassle.

    100 machines and counting...

Thanks everybody. I had seen a center feature on eBay and thought of grabbing but will stick with the one in the machine then. I doing want to waste my money.

    Thx

The main issue is the rear ball paths. You see wide variances on how the rears are configured, especially on recyclers. It can be done, but you need the right rear mechanics, and as already noted, a correct front nail pattern. I personally have changed two, and both times it was trivial because I knew beforehand that they would match up.
