Default Help needed resolving issue with IGT Terminator Slot Machine‏

I was told to come to this forum after posting on New Life Games Forum. I have just purchased my first IGT home use slot machine a IGT Terminator a table top electronic model. Everything is in japenese including the serial number.

After playing it for a short time the top screen went blank, the sounds stopped and the machine quit working. After following the reset instructions (in English) a few times the problem still exist.

There are two fuses on the power supply. Both test ok.

Anyone know what to do with this?

TO PACHITALK! I'm not sure exactly what machine you mean. Can you post a pic? Many knowledgable people around here! I'm sure you will get the help you need!

I used to have a similar game, maybe not a desktop one. Had a picture of the Terminator on the belly glass; not Arnold. Can you post a picture?

There are not a lot of things to repair; sounds like you did the obvious. Is it in a cold room?

CarlW. Thanks for the reply. I posted two pics of the machine in another reply. It is a slightly cold room, maybe 50-60 degrees. Its the basement of my home. We have it finished off with insulation and a space heater. Hopefully this is not too cold for the machine.

I've had issues with a Star Wars pachinko not liking temperatures below 70.

That is the same Pachislo machine I had. I never had any problems with it.

You could haul it to a warmer room and let it acclimate for a while to see if it makes a difference.

I forget exactly how to reset it, there is a key and some buttons and toggle switches. I'll look later today to see if I have some pictures.
Doesn't make sense if you have it working and then it quits; I'm trying to say I don't think you did anything wrong.

Does it work? Just no video? Reels spin, etc.
    ; or nothing works?

    Hello

    Welcome to PachiTalk

Looks like your Terminator pachislo is the 2004 model that we refer to as Terminator II

I'm sorry I'm not able to help with the trouble-shooting of the LCD problem, Hopefully other members can assist with that, but I can offer the complete 'Hard Reset' instructions, just in case the ones you have are different, these are the ones recommended for Hard Reset and include the odds change:

"How To Set the Skill Levels of Your Pachislo
    HOW CHANGE ODDS:

    "TURN YOUR MACHINE OFF FIRST"

    1. Locate internal key switch, and insert key.
Note: In order to change odds, machine must be in idle mode with no tokens/coins or credits being played and off.

    2. Turn "reset" key switch to on, to access programming mode.

    3. Turn on machine now.

    4. Depending on machine type, a number from 1 to 6 will be displayed on one of the LED meters on front door. (please note on some models the numbers could be displayed inside the machine)

    5. Locate and push Skill button. Depress button and notice movement of number being displayed in LED meter.

    6. Once desired level is displayed (1 to 6), push down on play handle (Joy Stick) for 10 seconds, and depress both "BET CREDITS" and "COLLECT CREDITS" buttons to lock odds level into machine memory.

    7. Turn "reset" key back to off.

    8. Machine should immediately initialize. If not, turn power switch to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds and turn power switch back to ON position.

Also just to confirm some additional info (from member Chrisdice) regarding hard reset

Two switches on the power supply:
    - One requires a soft reset at the end of a bonus.
    - The other pays out all tokens at the end of a bonus.

For these switches in most cases off is in the down or right position. The for off and on are:

    無 = off

    有 = on

Also, if you are new to Pachislos, then you may find this PDF Pachislo Operations Manual useful:

I will try what you described above as it is slightly different than the reset instructions inside the cabinet. We plugged it back in this morning and it worked for a couple minutes and the same thing happened. The sound quit, then the lights and action quit.

Please explain again what position the two switches should be in. Should they be on or off? Does the off position just turn off that feature?

I would also check your incoming power supply. Are you using a transformer, or are you plugging straight into your wall outlet?

I went thru the odds change / reset procedure and we still have the same issue. I did not realize the wheels still work so you can play the machine, but there display screen on the top (that plays short clips), the lights on the side and the sound does not work.

    An suggestions?

The unit is plugged into the wall (120v). There is an internal transformer. The wheels rotate and you can actually play the machine but the top screen doesn't work and there is no sound or lights other than the lights showing your credits and bet.

I mean is there a step down transformer inside the machine dropping the voltage to 24Vac. if a transformer starts to get overloaded. It can cause the parts of the machine that draw the highest current to drop out, I've seen it happen on many pachinkos when the wrong rating transformer is used.

Drunken clam, thanks for the guidance. I will check the transformer for output voltage and amps to see how it compares to its rating. I really like your quote above!
