    Default My two wall cabinets

Well over a year ago my buddy gave me an old abused & forgotten Sankyo "the Scarecrow" that I did a extreme clean and rebuild. Before he gave it to me I didn't even know what the hell Pachinko was. The clean up went so well my wife decided to do some shopping herself and we got a Monako "Super Star 2". Here are the wall cabinets I built for them.

Very nice. Now all you need is a more recent modern to really round out the collection

    Thanks everyone!

Me and the wife have talked about getting one more. The wall they are on has room for 1 more with a 2 inch gap between cabinets. I don't really need the gap b/c of how I open the machines (no finger holes needed). If we look for another it will be a vintage, a newer modern would be nice but it seems as though all our friends and family love playing the vintage one more then the modern electronic one. Then when I open it up and they see its just gravity running it they are more impressed. I think it gets as much use as my arcade cabinet. At some point I will finish the wiring of the Gak-counter, right now the wires and sensors are masking taped to the machine, lol..

If I do find another its already got a home elsewhere. My little sister is getting married next year and her and her boyfriend have put alot of miles on my vintage when they are here, so it would be their wedding present from us. I just haven't found one that I liked the price, cf & playfeild of yet. I'm hoping for another forgotten one like mine was, no major damage just really dirty. For them I would build a table top cabinet with the option to be hung on the wall.

Nice simple cabinet. I like how you did the release latch on the Sankyo.

    100 machines and counting...

Hidden releases for the 2 cabinets were a must do for me. The thought of building the cabinet and then drilling a finger hole was a no-no for two reasons.. 1. If the boxes end up close together on the wall (wife deciding where they went) I couldn't get into it. 2. I really didn't want to build a box then have a hole drilled in the side.

The release for the Sankyo was the easy one. On the Sankyo the play-field door latch and the machine door latch were on different sides so all I made was a release for the machine door. You open the ball hopper lid and push down on the giant flat washer, door opens. What I don't like about it is to open the play-field you have to open the machine door first.

The Monako was a different story and a little more engineering. The play-field door latch and the machine door latch were on the same side. Being on the same side gave me the opportunity to open both the play-field and the machine with one push-rod. So I set it up so you open the ball hopper lid and push down on the giant flat washer, door opens. Pull up on the giant flat washer, play-field opens.

I was extremely happy with how well it worked and it was done with nothing but leftover junk in my garage (other then a couple springs I had to buy). The levers are pieces of old angle steel from a bed frame, the threaded rod is sleeved from the MDF with a 2" piece of flexible house water tube (Ice maker water line I think) and the threaded rod was just sitting in the corner of my garage for months (I don't even remember buying it).
