Default Nishijin "Montreal winter Olympics" Theme - The money pit!

Since I just sold my Nishijin Football theme to a friend, I thought it was time to move on to another project...so I dug out one of my finds at that antique shop in KC and wow..."Pachinko Planet" to the rescue! EVERYTHING was missing from this machine. The pictures below are very entertaining to say the least and yes, I probably could just used the machine for parts, but James at Pachinko Planet was very kind and gave me a great deal on all the items I need!

    But here's what I needed:
    1. Center tulip was made out of wood but previous owner!
    2. When I opened the front of the machine...where the balls load, the entire shooting mechanics were GONE!
    3. Some covers were missing from the back.
    4. The plastic tray that goes in the back, for the balls to come out the front was totally missing (sorry, don't know the tech name).

And that of course is not including the rust on the frame, the mildew growing on the playing field, the TONS of dirt and mouse turds in side the jackpot mechanics...on and on and on!

No turning back now! If it wasn't for that cool skier dude, I would of scrapped this one!
    On ward!

Have you thought of powder coating it?

If it cost more than $10.00? Primer, paint, done...then no. HA!

If I was reselling them for some good money, then I would consider it, but like I said, I'm just refinishing these for family and friends and selling them for $150.00 with 500 new balls. This way, I get to play, tinker and see someone else enjoy these machines. It's a win/win! And this way, I never truly loose sight of a machine!

I don't really know how much a powder coating would cost...have you done it before?

That machine needs quite a few parts. I might have the center tulip. Unfortunately the other parts your missing I am always looking for, for my other machines. Especially the ball loader on the front, it seems like the 75 machines are always missing them or they are broke.

Power coat varies in price. It isn't too practical to do just one frame as it will cost you about $60-80 because of their setup costs. The upside to power coating is that it will last a lot longer. But if you prep for paint right then it should last a good time too. What color were you thinking?

    100 machines and counting...

    Well...the polishing begins!

First off I enjoy reading Pachinko Planets restoration guide. It helped me a lot on redoing the tulips.

And it's finished! This has actually taken me a week to gather the parts, but man...she works great! I got a different brand center tulip from Pachinko Planet for dirt cheap and we are ready to rock! (Ya like that wooden tulip "D"!)

I cleaned off the cell- turned out pretty good, redid the tulips, pulled most the parts off the back and gave it a good cleaning. Retouched some paint, and painted the chrome. Over all I though it turned out pretty good (and I sent a pic to a friend and they loved it...SOLD)!

Another pachinko saved from the dumpster!
