Talking Custom Pachislo - How to get Started

    Hello PachiTalk,

I'm brand new to PachiTalk and have admired a lot of the posts and work each of you all have done in making custom machines. I want to get started but have no clue on how to start. I believe my first order of business is to start doing custom artwork or something to the front of the machine and then move on to converting the reels.

I own a Ward of Lights Machine by Mizuho and any help you all could provide would be very helpful.

Additionally, I have seen a lot of the custom work that DevoSpeed has done and have reached out to him directly...however any other advince I would greatly appreciate.

Thank you and I hope to post and help in anyway I can.

    OG

I have not customized a pachislo, however I think I remember Wayne-Ooo having posted about a really nice one he did. I will see if I can find that thread.

I've done a couple of machines myself. To get started you need to come up with a theme for the machine. Design your artwork for the belly glass, reel glass and what images to use on the reels. Of course, the sounds/music of the machine should some what go with the theme. All the artwork should all flow together, from the belly glass art, reel glass and reels to make a good looking custom.

I realize customs are not for everyone, but for me it was just something to "tinker around with".

Here's a picture of my ScoobyDoo custom.

    That looks Awesome.

How did you go about designing the belt glass and the images on the reels?

Love the forum's expertise...who would have thought purchasing a Pachislo at a thrift store could lead to a whole world of enthusists.

Does anyone know someone that is in the business of doing custom kits? I'd like to customize my machine but I'd like to do it the proper way with silk screened replacement belly glass, top glass along with properly designed custom reels.

Please let me know ya'lls thought.

First you have to have some kind of a theme you want the machine to be. I was wanting to do a Scooby Doo machine, for my grandson. The music and sounds on the machine that I was going to customize reminded me of a haunted house. So I made the theme a Scooby Doo/Haunted House Theme.

I searched the internet for images, found 100's of them. Of course, not many had to do with a haunted house. So I had to combine several different images together to make one. Some images I had to reduce in size and others enlarge to size. I started with the belly glass, it's the easiest to do. Then the reel glass. It's a little harder. Everything must line up with the lights and led's. Plus, I "blacked out" around the images, so when the image is lit only the image lights up and not the area around it. I did the same thing on the reel images.

You can use your old reel glass to line everything up for designing your new artwork, the same goes for making your reels.
