Default Connecting a Gaku Pachicounter to an older Newgin pachinko

Today's victim is my Newgin Lucky Boat of Seven God pachinko. It is a wing type game which I like playing very much, but one of the problems with connecting a Gaku Pachicounter to it is how the payout system works. On this machine and several like it, the payout runs down two separate channels and uses two separate payout motors. There is just no good way to install a win sensor so that it can see and count the winning balls. This game pays out either 5 balls or 10 balls depending on which pocket you hit, also, the fever round payouts are in multiples of 5 or 10. So my plan was to use the external connection on the back of the machine that sends a pulse back to the parlor for every 10 balls won. By setting the Gaku Pachicounter to 10:1 and connecting the leads that would normally go to the "S" side of the sensor to the "WIN"(yellow) external connection I was able to get a fairly close count of my winnings. The really sweet thing about this setup was that I was able to install the Shot sensor without having to do any drilling or cutting on the game at all. Just make sure you position the shot sensor so that it sees the balls. Here are some photos to show how I set it up.

How it works. The "S" side of the sensor used on the Pachicounter is nothing but a photo transistor. When IR light from the "E"(emitter) side of the sensor bounces back to the "S" side the transistor conducts and acts like a switch. The "Win" connection on the games external terminal is actually the output side of an optical isolator or the "S" side if you will. Here are some more photos
.DSC_0129.jpgDSC_0130.jpgDSC_0131.jpgAfter about 7.5 minutes of play I had shot 643 balls, won 200, and lost 443. Lets just say that I'm not going to get rich playing Lucky Boat of Seven God any time soon but at least I'll know how bad I am!!

One other thing, the leads that would go to the "E" side of the sensor, just cut off square and tape, DO NOT TWIST together.
