Talking My new project! Bally's Bonus Times

On a trip to Laughlin today I swung by and picked up this latest project for $75!

    The guy said it was a Bally's 5500 but i think it's a 6000. It was made in 1998.

Looks like I'll need to start with getting the reset chips and a new battery in there!

I look forward to the feedback about this model! I'm guessing it's a little bit newer than the 5500 I just fixed!

I tested the battery today and it's shows good voltage.

It's missing everything for the coin from the door, could this missing part give it the 88 FF "catastrophic" error? Or should I order some reset chips first?

Anyone know of a complete set at a good price? Or at least help me with what parts I need? Thank you! I'm pretty sure I need a CC16 coin comparitor and obviously a coin slot on the front of the machine. Would that be everything?

Chris I kept you in mind when selecting another Bally's! I appreciate the help!

missing coin parts would cause errors in the 20's. 88 needs a reset and possibly a new cpu if the error keeps coming back. I have cc16's ill check to see if i have a complete coin in assembly.

keep in mind these parts are no longer supported by Bally's and I no longer work for them but I'll try to help any way I can.

    Awesome thank you!

I'm working on getting the reset chips right now.

If those don't work is it easier to get a new cpu or a complete mpu board?

    Ah gotcha!

Interesting thing I found about the machine too is it looks like it was made and used in Canada. The buttons have French written under the English words and the tray where the bills are inserted on the outside say's Canadian dollars only.

It has the "can" for the bills to be stored in but is missing the bill validator setup. Do you know what model will fit it?

Any chance the reset chips for the 5500 work for the 6000? Just wondering before I send payment for them

ok i just looked at the pictures you have posted. #1 no shot s5500 chips will work in a S6000. Also the game is set up for tickets, thats why there is no coin in assembly. the bill assembly looks like a jcm wba will fit. A ticket printer won't work in a home setting as you need a player tracking back end system to assign validation numbers. when you reset the game you need to set the options for coin in coin out and disable the printer.

Great to hear thank you! I guess i'll remove the ticketing system while I'm waiting for the reset chips!

Do these have any type of bonus game you can attach to them?

The reset chips for the 6000 should arrive today! If all goes well I guess I can set it up for free play til I can find the coin components.

We're you able to find any other parts for the coin mech Chris?
    I appreciate you looking!

You can use the ticket system, you just can't use them to add credits back to the machine, ticket printing is the result of cashing out. The "back end" as Chris would say is required if you want to run the tickets back through to add credits. Also, if it is a Canadian machine, chances are you have a CBA (Canadian bill acceptor) and it is wider than US money and won't accept US currency. Just trade for a WBA 23 (Bally) made for US bills, I know people that want the CBA because they live in Canada and would like that.

    Reset worked perfectly!!

Only getting a coin out optic blockage error code 31

I tried dusting the sensor off some, but should I go ahead and get in there a little deeper and clean it? Or is it time to just order a new sensor?

Since i'm lacking the coin in and the bill in at the moment, would I be able to set it up for tournament mode for now?

I pulled out the sensor and cleaned the optical "eyes" with a qtip and a small amount of windex. Let it dry and tried it again and same 31 error code. Guess this means to replace the sensor?

Even removing the hopper entirely still gives the 31 error. I've tried adjusting a few settings to bypass but It's not letting me bypass coins to try a psuedo coin even.

    Well I'm learning at least

I did a full reset again and everything works!!!

Psuedo coin allows the coins and lets me spin!

Now it's just a matter of getting the coin mechanisms and the bill acceptor in there!!

ok hold on. Fist off don't use windex on optics, that would be bad. Use simple green or just water. Also the 31 error might just be that options are set wrong after the reset. Is it set for hopper out? ticket out? both? Make sure all the options are set right right before buying anything. In the five years of working on hoppers I never had to replace optics. If anything goes bad its the optic control board. Now thats not to say you are right and it is the optics IMHO that would be the long shot.
Also regarding the ticket printer. In a casino environment the game can not print a ticket with out the player tracking assigning the ticket a validation number and bar code. If the game does not get information it will not print and default to either the hopper or to a handpay. With out the validation and bar code the ticket can not only be accepted in another game but the cage couldn't cash it either. Now like I said that is in a casino environment, is it possible to print tickets at home like reho said, maybe but it would have to be in some sort of demo mode or have some sort of after maket eproms chips and I'm not familiar with this.
