    Default water stains

I was just thinking, everyone agrees that cleaning the playing field with a liquid cleaner will make water stains. but has anyone had this happen to them. I've gotten a nishijin single ball that was literally stored in a barn, lots of rust and water damage. the play field has water stains but no more than I've seen on the well taken care of machine that was dad's pride and joy. Just a thought

awhile back, someone had posted a picture or video of palours cleaning their pachinkos outside with a scrub brush, a bucket of soapy water and garden hose.

so many may have got stains before they even got to the states.

When I was new to the hobby I was cleaning a cell with waterstains. At the time I didn't know what the staining was but I soon learned. I was using q tips soaked with windex to clean around the nails. I watched as the windex was literally wicked into the board beneath where the nail pierces the laminate and suddenly I had a new stain.

Wow... I've always used the Q-Tips Windex method an never created a stain! Hmmm... I should be more carefull in the future. My current method is to spray the windex in a flat container or plastic lid, dip the wooden stick Q-Tip (Generic brand from CVS) into the fluid and the proceed to rub.

For some of the larger areas I have sprayed the glass cleaner on and then quickly wiped off. I always keep a very light coat when I do this method.

I thought this method was safe... maybe not.

Good thread here. Would like to see more comments.

Drop a bit of liquid on paper or tissue and the water "run" in the tissue.. Same happen with cells. As liquid always do, it touch something (nails) follow it toward the cell surface. I'm resurfacing my powerflash cell, and it's a paper glued to wood, and "laminate" over it, so liquid follow nails, run in hole and touch paper.

The cleaning spray product used with Pica Cells Cleaner do the same thing, it can stain the cell, but I suppose because it's a foaming agent instead of liquid, it doesn't "run" freely as liquid do. It stain the nail surrounding, but don't go further away.

I spotted that with my cell cleaner on one of the eva's. it started seeping but did not go far and after it dried I was not able to see any damage except around one nail that was in a bright yellow spot of the cell but even then it was only a small halo around the nail

i saw that video also.kind of seems to explain why a lot of older machines have staining . but ,i think someone may have used a pressure washer on this one http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/135129...100514_007.jpg

    Grape Kool-Aid no less.

I'd tear that one right down to bare wood in a second if it was mine and give it some new playfield treatment.

    Start the nail pulling!!!
