Red face I was cleaning out the attic today

I would like to introduce my self to the community.

While cleaning out the attic today, (a chore I have been putting for about 10 years). I ran across a Christmas present my father left under the tree in the early 1970's. A wondrous Sanyo Pachinko machine.

We live in a two story Colonial with a 3 foot by 1 1/2 foot access door inside of small closet. It was a wonderful time with lots of exploitative comments bringing this machine down on a rickety old step ladder. Being home alone and in my late 40's. It was quite surprising my wife did not find me dead on the bedroom floor after being brutally assaulted by a dirty old Pachinko machine.

So down two flights of stairs to the basement rec-room project area. Another piece of work that has been going on for the last ten years. So the Pachinko sits next to my other project a vintage 1950's bumper pool table which is still unfinished.

So hopfully advice will be abundant and will be most welcomed on my part.

Having the memory of the fun this ingenious big toy that dad gave me for Christmas. It simply was the best present a kid could ever get.

In my teenage years thoughtlessly I recall fooling around with the jackpot latch and messed it up. Hopefully it can be repaired or adjusted to function again. If I recall corectly we had to reach around to the round hole and manually release the jackpot balls. Somewhere in a box in a closet in the house somwhere the the cover is floating around in our home. We have a tray of about 1,000 balls and once in a while. I find a loose one in a dresser drawer or box every so often and it reminded me that that machine was still in the attic.

Its not in the attic anymore.

And now you wonderful people in the forum are stuck with me.

I already have my eyes on one of the newer versions so this one will have company.

I hope you find me a welcome addition to the Pachitalk world.

    Jim

I have not figuered out how to place the images in my album in this post

    Jim,

    1) You will have a blast with your newfound/previously lost toy. You will take it apart, clean it, shine it, and put it back together. You will enjoy that process as much or more than you will enjoy playing it.

    2) Once you get done with the restoration process, you will get somewhat bored. You will start cruising the ebay boards and the local craigslist boards for a new "fix". Next thing you know, you haven't bathed or shaved in 2 weeks, you are locked in the garage surrounded by 15-20 vintage machines, and your wife is filing for divorce by sending you a "Pachi-gram".

With that many machines to love, you don't need her anyway. Let her go, and use the extra funds for new machines.

Of course, I'm kidding about some of the above. I let you figure out which parts.

I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

It's the cleaning part I am worried about with wanting to do it right and not by trial and error.

    welcome jimba! you're already hooked.

the sanyo that you have is notorious for the seesaw arm above the jackpot seesaw getting stuck. this is why you figured out to put your hand into the hole and reset it.

take apart the back (taking pictures for easier reassembly) and you will find an off white arm with a paddle that the balls fall onto. this arm pivots on a brass axle. pull it straight off and clean the axle well. then, use a jeweler's file to clean the inside of the plastic hole. this video shows the basics of this machine.

sanyo comet II lemur, video, sticky jackpot seesaw

if you don't want to take it all the way apart, another alternative is to add a weight to the arm so it will pivot down on the left side far enough (that's what I did to my first sanyo, before I found my jeweler's files for the second sanyo). here's a discussion.

fixed this machine yesterday; update on adding tulips

I can tell that you'll be posting more soon. feel free to ask any questions that come up, and to post any fixes that you come up with. this is a very friendly group, and incredibly knowledgeable on pachinkos and pachislos.

btw, your machine face (called the cell) looks clean. the machines often get water stains b/c people use too much liquid and it sucks in around the nails. as you look at machines for sale you'll notice this. thus, ttc's warning not to get the cell wet.

    have fun!

    Hi Thanks for this info,

What is recommended to clean and polish the Cell?

Are there any recommended lubricants for pivot points and shafts?

Are there any absolute no-no's for lubricating or cleaning besides water based solutions which has already been pointed out?

Is Brasso Ok for the pins?

On the chrome framing is Chrome cleaner and polish ok to use?

Are there any dangers with using canned compressed air to de-dust tight areas?

Will my wife leave me if I buy too many of these machines?

Is it normal to be depressed when one missed getting PACHINKO!!! on the cheap?

On the jackpot arm is it normal for it to appear warped (slightly curved on the flat side)?

My thoughts at start from top to bottom on the front then move to the rear. (best advice my dad ever gave me about uh,,,oh,, I better leave that one alone)

Thank's everyone for the very warm welcome,

    Jim

    Oops,

    Missed one question,

Is there a recommended AC power supply solution for this machine?

This is appearing before a set of questions asked that is waiting for moderator approval.
