    Default Dead Cranky Condor

I have purchased a Cranky Condor machine well over 10 years ago and it has work flawlessly...until last night.

I turned on the machine and nothing. No Lights No sound. Nothing works. I'm not sure what is wrong.

I looked for fuses but couldn't locate them. Is anyone familiar with is model? Also, this machine does not have a reset key so I am not sure how to reset. I have pushed or toggled all switches I could find but it didn't help.

Any suggestions on what I can do to revive the Condor???

I checked the outlet and it is fine. I also checked all the connections I could find and still nothing.

As I said, the night before the Condor was working fine. The next day I turned it on and nothing.

I'm ready for more suggestions. Are there any threads on the site about checking fuses? I could use a picture.

Can you post a couple of Pics. of the innards?

I do know it's a "Universal" machine made in 1995, Type-A, 5 lines, 1/2/3 coin play with digital speech if that helps anyone out there on the internals of it.

If it is a 100 volt machine and the transformer was never changed out for US 110 volt use that may be the problem if the fuses where ever they are did not blow.

Can you follow the power cord into the machine and tell us if it goes to a transformer secured in the case of the machine or straight into the metal cage with the power switch?

No ones come forward yet so I'm sending in the best technical guy I could find to pick at it for awhile.

Hang in there. We will figure it out. Do you own a multi meter? If you can post some close up Pics of the power box and wiring I can try to tell you what to probe and how to set the meter.

    Where are you located?

I blew up the first picture. Just under the silver power switch are two rectangle black plastic parts. Do they say "3A or maby 5A" above them? If so this might be where the fuses are located. Those might be plastic caps that cover the fuses.

Also looking at the picture blown up it looks like the gray power cable where it connects up to that rear plug on the silver power center box is not seated fully into it's connector. It's the connector in the very back left corner. The (blue or gray) and green rear speaker wires are running just over that plug. Check it to make sure it is seated.

Someone might have tripped on or pulled the power cord and unseated it.

Let us know your findings... Brian...

Believe it or not, the plug is as it has been that way ever since I bought it. It sticks out that much. It is seated.

The two covers are marked "3A" and they did have fuses inside. One looked good, the other didn't.

Any way to test that with a multi meter? Or should I just go to Radio Shack and buy another? Does "3A" mean 3 amp?

Thanks for the help thus far.

Go ahead and change out that fuse. It would be a good idea to pick up a couple of spares. If that does the trick, . If not we will have to get that meter out. Make sure that you replace the fuse with one of the same size. Don't put a larger rated one in. If something is still wrong a larger rated fuse may wind up making your Cranky Condor angry and it will start smoking or worse... Let us know how it is going...
