    Default boose and mixers

was just in the library reading the paper:
they said take a subject 185Lb and give him:
1 oz. of whiskey mixed with diet coke = blood alcohol level of .051 after 1 hour.

wait a couple of days to clear the system then give him:

1 oz of whiskey mixed with regular coke = blood alcohol level of .036 after 1 hour

apparently sugar reacts with alcohol to slow down or prevent absorption of the hooch!!
this info may come in handy when out on a date!!

Sounds like a good subject for "Myth Busters". You should send it to them.

I like to mix the alcohol with grain and hops. Much healthier and builds muscles, too!

Ok, try it, you'll like it.
Place 2 lbs of frozen blackberries in a clean 80 oz jar (Vlasic pickle or pepper ring jar works great, just wash very well)
Fill jar with cheap vodka, cover berries and screw lid on jar. (any cheap 80 proof vodka will do)
Let berries and vodka set in icebox for a week or so, shake jar every so often.
Strain berry/vodka mixture into large mixing bowl. (try not to snack on the leftover berries or you may not be able to finish this. )
Mix 2 cups sugar with 2 cups water and add to liquid in mixing bowl. (less water=more kick )
Add 1 oz. glycerine for body.(more or less as needed)

So now you have it, my secret recipe for Blackberry "Cordial" which is very good this time of year around the fireplace. I use it straight, but friends have used it as topping over sliced pears, ice cream, or in hot tea. This is a great after diner drink.

Now, somebody come up with something to do with the berries...I thought about dipping in chocolate

Won't get much done after eating the alcohol berries.
We make a cherry cordial similar way. We fill LARGE jug with sweet cherries, we have used the smaller tart ones as well, the orchard next door is full of them.
wash well and fill jug with cherry's,cover with cheap whiskey, really it does not matter so go cheap. add cup of sugar for each quart, adjust it later on. let sit for 2 months, sample for sweetness, add more sugar if needed. The alcohol is absorbed by the cherry's and the color and water from the cherries comes out. the liquid after 2 months is more cherry juice and less booze. the cherries pack a wallop though. serve cherries floating is juice. cold
Another good treat is fresh pineapple soaked in captain Morgans, overnight is enough in fridge. serve cold sliced on toothpicks, fun at party's.
Did I mention Absolute olives? Large (huge)green olives drained and rinsed 3 times then covered in Absolute vodka, let sit for month in fridge. Makes for a really dry martini, no glass required.
If you come to one of my parties beware the relish tray alone could put you on your butt.
    Cheers,

Oh yes the kala's are the best! right out of the jar. the firm green ones pimento stuffed make great Absolute olives. Need to wash and rinse well to remove most of the saltiness.
I just had some holiday rum cake yesterday it tasted awful but it was like doing a shot, Too bad on the taste, yech.
