    Hi,

I just got hold of a New Sea Story machine last weekend... Nice Graphics / Sounds etc... I get a 'pop' when the sounds cut off too.

Got a couple of questions I'd like to ask please :-)

    1) There appears to be a set of lights on each side of the front top ball tray, I think that I saw them flicker when I added some balls in to the tray, but they dont seem to come on during game play. Any ideas ?

    2) The Chrome finish on the plastics are peeling / damaged at the top of the machine above the screen where the balls initially land and also round the bottom of the screen on the front edge of the ramps (just above the 'start' tulip to the left and right). Is this usual for a new sea story to be 'well played' and worn like this ? also can it be repaired ?

    3) I've also got a Janken Fever Battle (The one with the Scisors, Paper, Stone hand that moves) which is a great machine to play when I've had it set up, the new sea story doesn't seem as much fun (fever battle has a few little sub games to play) Am I missing something or do I need to play it some more ?

    Thanks, Regards, Colin

someone else had the problems with some peeling chrome, the dealer couldn't find any better replacement. I guess it may be a common problem.

but, the dealer should have stated that in his ad. I would complain.

There are marquee lights (leds under red plastic) on the front of the top tray that move toward the centre (sort of pointing you to put balls in), is that what you mean? I was wondering how many marquee lights there are supposed to be myself as I think I only have 2 or three per side (not at my machines right now), and it seems logical that there would be more toward the centre.

I don't know if there is more sub game play in New Sea Story (tel us someone with more experience), but as far as I have played I don't think so. From my perspective the game play is good because in certain modes you can keep playing a long time on only a few balls and a heightened chance for multiple bonuses.

Janken Battle is more of an exception than a rule in that aspect. Sea Story is so wildly popular because it's less complex. Janken Battle was less popular because it was relatively complex (and thus confusing) though it did have the nostalgia value of all the reaches being from older machines by Sankyo.

Thanks Guys... It would seem that the flaking is a common problem with well played New Sea Storys.. I'll also try and investigate why the lights on the ball tray dont work..

The machine was bought at a 'show' and looks in good overall condition, although it needs a good clean. I only noticed the flaking when I got back and opened the front up to straighten some of the pins that have been bent over the payout holes.

Its probably worth noting that the flaking will be a good general indication of the 'odometer reading' of a machine... If I buy another in the future, I'll certainly be checking around this 'cell area' for wear (is that the right name ?)

Colin, the cell area would be the correct name for it.

Hi, can anyone tell me the significance of the "X" & "O" lights above the top left of the LCD display? They flash alernately very fast during play. I think they are to do with flipper banking but not sure what.
    Thanks

X & O - I'll take a look again tonight, but I am pretty certain these are the "real" win indicators. Each machine has an output indicator of some sort (other than the reels) that confirms a win or loss spin. Take a look when spins end and see what symbol you get on a losing spin and on a bonus winning spin.

Sorry, I am very wrong, I should have looked first before guessing. Indeed Rupan has it, the X/O is a mini roulette that gets spun when a ball goes through the GO pocket. If the roulette results in an X the wings on the start pocket remain closed, if the roulette results in an ) then the wings open.

Found the problem with the lights, but not attempted to repair it yet.... The lights (3 either side I think) are mounted on a thin flexible plastic circuit board which wraps round the front. The wires go to a little plug which connects to a surface mount style connector.

All 4 Pins in the connector have lifted away from the circuit. When you press the connector 'home' - all the lights start to work !! - It will need VERY carefull soldering using liquid flux to ensure that the pins do not bridge. Failing that the wires will need to be extended and solder directly to the resistors which limit the current to the LED's.

    Regards, Colin

Hi all, I'm new to the forum site and I have been looking at the back of my New Sea Story Machine.
I have Identified a good deal of the text thanks to google translate however, there is a switch near the bottom, on the right side near the solenoids. At one position it has "Big" and at the other, it has "Small".
I cannot tell what this switch is meant to do.

I am hoping someone could tell me.

volume control... hmmm, I figure it would be a bit more involved than that considering pachi machines are in loud parlors.

Yeah, It's related to volume I concur. It's situated next to a speaker which the previous owner stuck tape in front of the speaker vents to muffle the sound. If the switch actually functions I cannot tell.
