Ah. I see you have found a "Formula Machine Gun" machine. A while back I saw a lot of slightly newer ones on YJA. I saved the pics here. Formula Machine Gun :: Formula Machine Gun Pachinko picture by mxfaiman - Photobucket

If I remember right the ones I have pictures of are 1953 build year. So I would imagine yours in probably between 1950 - 52.

Also here is a page from the pachinko bible.

    011.jpg

Both the machines pictured there were built in 1952. So I think yours is build year of 52.

    100 machines and counting...

OH how I would love to have any vintage hand crank ball lifter machine! This one looks NICE! Seesaw in down position, nice little ball jam! It seems to be lacking the "trap door" style jackpot. I suspect the jackpot is a measured tray above the center feature, and the balls can be seen in the center piercings as they "pass through" the center. Balls pay to top tray. NICE front overflow! Paint on trays don't seem right. Ball lifter looks newer...but old tin on back of machine suggests that it was made for hand lifter. Maybe the parlor was a one man show, and added these same brand lifters and painted the trays to match the new paint on the lifter crank. A rebound bumper instead of round and round. Ahead of its day? Soft shot return to tray, only if shot hard enough.
Don't even bother restoring it! I'll PM you my address...and we can work out a payment plan!

Actually, I do not have possession. This has been offered to me for sale. I am negotiating the price. I don't think they are going to let it go to me cheaply though. I will do what I can to obtain it.

I wish I could get one as a restortation project.

very cool machine. those old single shots with hand cranks come up periodically on YJA but always very spendy. i bid on a stunning half gauge hokoku that was very similar to Jeff's but a little more color and with a hand crank some time ago. i was outbid at 50,000 Yen.

This machine looks to be from a brief period in history when ball feeders were briefly introduced, then made illegal by the gaming authorities.

From The History of Pachinko Machines:

"In 1953 the first autoloaders or the "Renpatsu-shiki" (successive shot) pachinko machines were developed, enabling players to shoot 160 to 180 balls per minute. Before the year was out, the gaming authority made it illegal to produce Renpatsu-shiki that paid more than one ball per win pocket, marking 1953 as the only year of that era in which autoloading ALL-15 machines were produced."

Definitely a unique and rare find!

Yes that was written by member Rival. Actually I think the machine in question though is actually 52 build year as they did start to introduce machines with upper trays on the front in late 52; and they lasted till late 53. (Well at least according to the dates in the pachinko bible. )

    100 machines and counting...

I would defer to the pachinko bible (of which I am horribly envious of the owner). I will update my page to reflect the new information.
