Does Pachitalk influence prices on ebay?

I noticed something from reading some post about certain machines and then watching those machines on ebay. Whem someone here mentions that a machine is great the prices go up on ebay. Spin Luck had been selling for around 300. Sinbad had been selling for 150. When both machines were mentioned here they both shot up tremendously on ebay. Some other machines did also as well. The reverse holds true. I was following aladdin evolution sales on ebay. They were going pretty good. Someone here mentioned that the game was not too good and boring and the sales have gone down on that one. Maybe I am imagining it but it seems to be dependent on what is said in the forum. Then again maybe the people here are the ones just bidding on the good ones. The theory does have some holes in it. The julie pinball is very popular and mentioned on this forum as being very good. At first the prices went up but now the prices have gone down. Other factors also come into play. Some vendors flood the market with certain machines that cause the market to change.

Then again I may need help and this may all be a figment of my imagination

and it's a subject that has been mentioned before in at least one of the Threads!!

and it seems pretty logical to me that this should be the case as this site is the single most Authoritive on the Subject of Pachislos, Pachinkos and maybe life in general......

I know if I were a Vendor I would certainly be visiting here on a daily basis to get the lowdown on all the Machines.....

So perhaps we should be a little careful......

Supply and demand... There has been a Spin Luck or two that has gone for $300, but that is very rare. They only show up every once in a while so they will usually go high. I think the fact that it is considered an 'elite' machine here on this forum does influence the price to a degree. The members here are pretty price savvy...but the hype of the Spin Luck has made it one of those machines that members will trip over each other to get to it and probably spend way more than they want... just to have it. I'm glad that I have no interest in it

I think Pachitalk probably does impact ebay prices and in two ways. A machine that gets rave reviews here will directly drive up the prices simply because a lot of people here will be bidding on the item.

I also believe that (smart) vendors monitor what goes on here and price their machines accordingly.

As a buyer, I guess you could view this as a negative thing. But the alternative is much worse. If we didn't talk about new models and review machines and vendors, we'd be in the dark, unable to make an educated choice. I think there would be a lot of unhappy buyers as a result, which would, in turn, ruin the hobby.

It would make sense that prices are influenced by Pachitalk - if something is 'hot' on the forums, theres a good chance more people will start to look to buy it. More bidders on ebay drive the price up and when future auctioneers do their research to see what their item should sell for they see the inflated price.

Same would apply to vendor requests I would imagine - like dattia said, supply and demand. If a vendor all of a sudden starts to get a bunch of calls for Spin Luck I wouldn't be surprised if they jack up the price on it

I too would visit this forum for a price and demand check if I were a vendor.

Certain machines no matter if talk about them or not are going to be Pricey and expensive a few examples

1) Harley anything
2) Star trek
3) Queen
4) any other very well known franchise that is internationally known.

the only thing we can hope for is that with the information on this site
is that the General public gets the information they need. and that vendors take notice of what the buying public expects on the lines of quality of service etc..

the only thing you need is that they mass produce your favorite then flood the market all at once with the machine you want then the price will come down when the market has absorbed as much as it can hence Julie theres a glut of them and most that were looking have bought one so the price is reasonable once the supply dwindles it will go back up in price as the next flood takes place the only exceptions to the rule are the big si-fi and collectible names that were mentioned only because theres a considerable audience for these no matter what they are or how they play they have to have one to prove there a Trekkie or starwars nut ........

the queen machine in japan is bundles of cash to buy
as i have heard some ware the maker has only let the machine out on lease and wants them back

how true this is im not sure but time will tell
