I've made clocks before (you buy the mechanisms at a craft store). It's not too hard if you are crafty. My favorite I made is one where the hour hand stays still and the hour numbers move around. The trick to this would be finding something to make the arms out of that is stiff enough to hold the shape and light enough to not overtax the mechanism. Cool idea, though.

i figure you could do a decent job with a good heavy weight paper.
220+ a light cardboard if you will.
print the image on the card paper and affix it to the mechanism, if the clock has a "glass" the environment wouldn't affect the card paper to much.. maybe spray it with a fixative to keep it happy...

I have since made another, and I am now working on one that uses an atomic clock interface so it doesn't have to be set manually like the other 2.

I'll post a pic of the new one once I get around finishing it.
