    Default Is this an Aoi-Umi?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1970.../161464218039?

I am hoping for an education rather than interest in buying this machine. The sticker on the back says AOI UMI, but the door frame doesn't look right to me and I thought I read somewhere that all the aoi-umi machines has the multicolored "Tokyo" Nishijin sticker rather than the red sticker. Could it just be that someone swapped out the front chrome or that the wrong PASS sticker was put on the machine or did they actually make some aoi-umi's with this style frame?

That is a Kyoto / Osaka model. Not an Aoi Umi though.

The thing to look for on an Aoi Umi is the playfield sticker will look like this one. (minus the red text and the gray box)

And a true Aoi Umi model has navy blue plastic parts like this one. Though some did get the light blue tray and white plastic. But most got the navy.

I thought it was strange because the sticker on the back identified it as aoi-umi, but it didn't look like the one I own or any that I had ever seen. One thing I have learned in the short time I've been into pachinkos is that just when you think you might have an idea of what's going on something new will pop up and prove you wrong. I always like to defer to the experts here.

I think that sticker was the same for all models. Even the Tokyo one. It was done like how most car companies operate. They like to use their top name on as many things as they can, because it is cheap and looks good.
