    Default Printer

Does anyone have a printer recommendation for printing out playfields,(17.5x22) for vintage machines? I've been trying with a few people through their business links but concerns with copyright infringements to no response is not helping.

I ran in to the same issue with some businesses when I tried to get a playfield copied and printed recently. Ultimately I found a small, independent shop that I assured I was doing this as a hobby, not a business, so they agreed to do the playfield.

You might try to find a locally owned print shop or sign shop.

I use a local print shop and the issue has never been mentioned.

Thanks guys,(should of been more specific, my bad) but I'm looking for an actual printing machine referral and type adhesive vinyl and so on. I haven't the intestinal fortitude to ask William or James from you know where directly as we all need their patronage, so I'm asking here. Big Chicken Inc here..

I'm not familiar with any particular home printer large enough to print a playfield, but the print shop that did mine used 3M Scotchcal Graphic Film IJ35, looks good, adhered well, the only drawback is it doesn't have a UV protective laminate over top of it.

I'm pretty sure you can buy large format printers for home use. Probably starting around $1000.

The laminate I use I get from Blick art supplies. They are 20'x25'x.005mm sheets. Grafix Dura-Lar Clear Adhesive-Backed Film

I use a cold roll laminate press to get a good adhesion. You can use a hand roller, but the laminate press makes a huge difference.
I purchased the press from Amazon. VEVOR 29.5 Inch Cold Laminator Machine

You guys rock! Got my nose pointed in the right direction. After the initial investment of printer, adhesive vinyl roll+mylar and shipping tubes just in case, my cost would be around 10-12 bucks per background, depending on density of playfield. Since most are a white dominated field it should and could be considerably less. Now to create a diversion with the wife and click buy!

I swear when I first saw this thread I thought 'you can hook a printer up to a pachi?'

I have an old Designjet 3500CP that prints out to 54" wide. Gathering dust in storage. Miss printing posters and such.

    Looks really good!

Only thing I might suggest is to downsize the image to the playfield area that is actually visible.

You read my mind Wayne and would look more refined I agree, but as it sits @ 18x24 the Castle entrance is perfectly located for the ball exit on the playfields, tres cool. Can't sell installed for copyright issues but....It's a Canon TC-20 Sparky, their website has several free poster and Pic download that has all kinds of neat ideas and designs too.
