Default Flipper assembly removal Nishijin A single shot 1968-69

I am trying to remove the flipper mechanism and have reviewed the pachinko planet video. However, I'm stuck at the point of removing the nut that holds the hammer. As you can see in the photos, the threads are gone and the metal pushed up against the nut. Has anyone encountered this before and what suggestions do you have?

    Thanks!IMAG0094 (1).jpgIMAG0095.jpg

Have you tried removing it? Usually a nut can correct the damaged threads when you remove from a bolt with damaged threads.

Yes. But there is so much metal against the nut that it won't budge at all. It seems that the stripping of the threads was deliberate. I can't imagine that it was done by accident.

Sorry, not sure then. It is hard for me to see that in the photo. Hope you can work it out or somebody else has an idea for you.

You might have to cut off the stripped end and hope you still have enough to keep the nut tight when you reassemble. Failing that may be time to find one in the bone yard.

This happened to me ... Not on a Pachinko machine ... But several times on other mechanical things ... My solution was to get a Dremel with a thin cutting wheel ... Then cut down two sides of the nut ... then split it of with a small chisel ... this will save what thread u have ... Then you can run a die down and re cut any damage ... The nut should be easy to replace .... Its easier than it sounds ...

Watch it some nuts aren't easy to find replacements for. Such as the ones that hold the lower ball trays on. Man I can't find ones with the right thread pitch at any hardware store.

Really hard to tell what is going on in that picture.

    100 machines and counting...

I should have said ... make sure you get a replacement Nut before you Dremel the nut off ... If its Japanese I would assume it will be metric
