Default Total newbie, please go easy

    image.jpg

    hi all!

just picked this up tonight and have a few questions. I am new to Japanese slots, please go easy. We go it home, cleaned out the coins and dust inside and put a few credits on. I figured out I need to hit the 3 buttons on the front to stop the reels. On the second or third spin I hit what I am guessing is a jackpot and the numbers 1-6 above the reels are lit and I can no longer hit the three buttons on the front to stop the reels. How can I get back to stopping the reels on my own

-Why are the front buttons no longer working
-I do not have a reset key, how can I reset it without one
-are there user manuals and where can find one for this model (Date Line)
-What year is this from. I am assuming it’s an older model???
-I am more an older pinball, jukebox guy

    any help would be great!

    Default Newbie, please go easy

    Hi all!

just got my first slot and I am looking for some help. I power it on, put in tokens and hit the start button spinning the reels. The first few games I was able to use the 3 buttons on the front to stop the reels but I can’t do that now. I also do not remember the 1-6 lights lit above the reels.

I am not sure if I’m in a bonus game or something but now when I put in tokens and hit start the reels spin but stop on their own at a random time. Is there a manual available for it? Am I in a bonus feature or something

I guess it would help to say it’s a Date Line by Kohshin and best I can find from 1975?

    WELCOME!!!

Can you post some pics of the inside??

You can replace the reset key switch with a simple on off switch!!

I think this machine is from 1991!!

    Hi all!

thanks for the welcome and help

I have no way to post a video but I can describe what is going on step by step. I also took some pics of the inside and have them attached.

when I plug it in and turn on the machine everything looks good and it will accept the tokens. I can put in 1 and start a game or 50 and start a game either way it does the same thing. When I hit the start button the reels spin but I cannot use the 3 buttons on the front to stop the reels. They will stop automatically after about 30 seconds. If I hit on a pay line it pays out the correct amounts and I can “cash out” the tokens at any time.

when I had first got it home, plugged in and turned on it was accepting tokens and I could choose how many pay lines to play with the button under the coin slot. I cannot do that now. It was also letting me stop the reels with the buttons on the front. It did not matter which of the 3 I pressed it would stop the corresponding wheel above. It no longer does that it will just spin until it decides to stop. When the reels stop they stop in order from left to right one at a time.

I do not have a key for the ‘reset’ switch and you posted I can replace it. How do I reset it once I have it replaced?

    thanks for all the help!

    Thank you sir!

appreciate the info. I am going to look at it tonight when I get home and try some keys I have for pinball and jukeboxes before replacing the lock with a switch. I got real lucky with an old barrel key I had laying around it opened the game right up

The 1-06 is likely a bonus game. I'm new at this myself, but generally it seems to mean that you have 6 spins left on 1 game. If it's 3-08, for example you have 8 spins left (at 1 credit each) that will win you 15 tokens per spin. Then it goes to game 2, then game 1...

If it's like 3-30, I _think_ it means that you have 30 spins to win something. As soon as you do it drops the last number down and from then on you win constantly for the rest of the spins of that game.

Once the game is done you will have to push the reset button on the inside of the machine (unles you have the machine configured to not require that, but only one of mine has switches for that that I've been able to figure out).

I was thinking that also with the bonus games but it’s weird I cannot select a reel to make it stop. It just spins all three for about 20-30 seconds.

the machine is kinda boring in this mode. It was fun as hell when you could select the reel to stop.

Do you have enough coins inside it? It may be trying to pay out.

I tried that also and filled the hopper with about 150 coins

it still will not reset back to where I can select the reels to stop them

    Hey all!

I think I found the issue!

first off I tried the reset by removing the key switch and reversing the wires. I did a reset and changed payout to level 2 just to see if it would.

looking at the machine there is a board in the upper left (pic #1) and a fuse (pic #2) that is blown. The fuse is a VMZ 1a and it is blown. Where can I find a VMZ 1a? Is this a slo-blo or a regular/fast acting fuse? I am going to stop by a car part store to see what I can find

    Standard 20x5mm glass fuse.

This fuse blowing can be a sign of bad capacitors on the stop board. Buy a few fuses, not just one. Just in case.

    Uuuuughhhhh!

foubd a couple of the correct fuses, put one in, powered it up and immediately it blew. Pulled the board to look it over and it looks brand new. No burns, damage, or lifting on the traces. Of course I can’t find my meter to test the amps at the fuse but it’s obviously over 1a all the grounds are good and everything still works as it should except for the ability to manually stop the reels. I added a pic of the stop board minus the fuse

I ordered a bucket of the fuses and think I’m going to disconnect the stop buttons and connect them one at a time to see if that’s causing the fuses to blow. Boring game when you cant stop the reels LOL

As above. Constant blowing fuse can be a sign the capacitors have failed and need replacing. Try the board with nothing else plugged in. And of course. Check you have the right fuse rating.

I took out a 1amp fuse and replace with a 1amp fuse but I am not sure what the amp rating should be. I cannot find and info or schematics on it anywhere

I’ll try removing all the plugs on the board and see what happens. Am assuming the plug at c7 is the power to the board. If I remember I traced it back to the main power board

    i need my meter

    Hi all

got my fuses and 1uf 50v cap for c10 on the stop reel. Got it changed out and plugged it in to start a game. First game played fine second game the fuse blew and the cap at C10 is smoking. Unplugged and tried again with a new fuse same result. I unplugged everything except the power supply at CN7 position with the same result. I even pulled the cap from C10 and tried without a cap there and had the same result. I checked the cap +/- just to make sure and those where good

I am stumped as to what the issue is…. I see the large 50v 470uf cap is in line with the C10 on the same trace along with a diode at D8, can the large cap at C9 be the issue?

so using my meter I have a reading on all caps, resistors, and diodes except for caps 5,6,7,8. I took a pic of one of the 4 nd can’t seem to find these anywhere. They look tantalum dipped, 104k (0.1uf) but I do not see a volts on them. Anyone know of a source for these?
