    Default Latest craigslist buy

    Nishijin model B multi.

Haven't seen center feature tulip like this ( Albatross )?

I definitely want to try to reproduce original background.

Purchased it from a lady that purchased it in the 70's.

Jet image in the upper right hand corner. And I think Palm trees in the lower left. But way too much UV exposure and water damage to be sure.

Nice looking machine. Boy has that background faded though.

Here is what a better one looks like.

I love that background with the palm trees and the jet. I think I only have 1 machine with that background. It is one that I have been wanting to remake for a long time.

Red on the tailfin of the plane and grey for the plane itself. The blue silhouette is not all though. There is one more color I have not yet figured out as I have not gotten one yet that will give me enough clues. Been through three of them and never gotten one good enough to reproduce correctly. Someday...

I got bored today so I quickly whipped up one of my own style.

Arrival in Hollywood Holes.jpg Arrival in Hollywood small.jpg

Also just for reference in case someone is curious. I'm pretty sure the background with the palm trees is Sunset Blvd. in Beverly Hills and the plane I think is a 707.

With that said I used random palm trees to make mine and the plane is a DC3.

Those are totally awesome mxfaiman! I just took your photo from the previous post, started painting over the pins and parts, and free handed some of the areas that were covered the parts and resized to background. Man am I a total photoshop noob! Lol😁

Just a tip of advice. Layers and Masks are your friend. You won't believe what you can do with them. Every single layer in my background has a mask on it and there is probably around 15 or so layers. (well before I merged all the trees into one.)

Spent the last few days pulling nails. They were so corroded that they had a white scaling look to them
That even after 24 hours in the tumbler they were only able to get this clean.

So while they were going back into the tumbler I finished pulling parts and nails from the front and proceeded to continue trying to repair the pockets that didn't like being removed

As you can see there's still a small shard missing
    So here's the bondic

This stuff uses uv to cure the plastic weld
And cures in seconds once exposed
I guess once the bond is made you can sand it or polish it.

But I'm going to have to wait till I find the very last chip to finish the pocket

    Found the last piece. Yay!!!

Question. Has anyone seen this background in pink? I've pulled the plastics off and the non exposed areas hint at the background being pink not blue.

If you can't find the missing chip...can you use tape as a backer, and build up the stuff to replace the chip. I have seen this product before (I think Max uses it?), and I am curious about it! I typically use a plastic epoxy for most of my plastic repairs. finally 002.jpg Good for most small to mid size repairs. It has fixed stuff that looked unfixable. At about $6 it is reasonable. I can get it at work for about $3.65
The Bondic looks like it would work better for "delicate" repairs. I think it is like $22 for a starter kit. I was waiting for some more feedback before I spent $20 on glue.
The missing chip is something I would usually build up and sand to shape. Will Bondic do something like that?
Very cool machine! I would have bought it for the center feature alone! It looks like 2 Side Tross pockets back to back! side tross 029.jpgside tross 028.jpg Super cool!

I believe that they used several different primary colors and mixed them to create the ink colors for the playfields. Each of those primary colors fades at a different rate depending upon age and UV exposure. The first to go was always the yellow, so any ink with any yellow in it would become whatever colors are left. Oranges and reds often become pink, pinks often become blue, and it can make you completely crazy trying to figure out what the original colors were.

Build up missing components from the plastic?

By all means yes!. last night I was literally 3D Printing by hand with this stuff. you know those pins on the back plastics that they run switch wires in between that usually get snapped off? I was re creating those as an experiment I'll post photos when I get home but the cure and harden is so rapid with UV exposure you could do some crazy stuff with this product..

    here's an example..

    I agree,

though I can ask the person I purchased it from. She purchased it as a child in the 70's from the importer shop.
that will be my best bet to find out for sure. have to love it when you have a solid lead!.

putting the finishing touches on the replacement background.

I think I may also insert a layer with the license stickers and tags into it as well..
