    Default My First Repair Attempt

I am looking for some starting point to see if I can repair a Satomi Computer Pachinko machine.

    100_0065_1.JPG100_0066_1.JPG100_0071_1.JPG

At first I thought just the optsensor was bad, but upon searching around old messages here and finding a nice video of this type of machine's innner works...

I think something is wrong with the circuit board or wiring.

Currently, when it is turned on the tulip solenoid is always powered. This jams up the tulips, while they close the balls just sit there without going through. When the machine is off they go through just fine.

My current thought is to pull the circuit board and check for any damage. Without some reference to what one should look like I am not 100% sure how easy to detect problems it will be.

Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated.

couple of people here have these machines and hopefully they'll be along to help. it seems these computer pachinko retrofits (I'm assuming) are problematic.

I'm not much help in regards to your problem as I haven't owned a computer-pachi. But I can give you a link to the manual and schematics.

I think this version of the Satomi were actually designed as computer pachis and weren't retro fits like the model A style ones.

If they are like that one, is there any possibilty that I can get a couple of high resolution pictures of the circuit board and what isn't functioning for each of the machines?

The more information I have the more likely I am to succeed.

No rush. Just gathering info right now. Will probably be a week or two before I can get a good days time to get into checking it out.

And mxfaiman, thanks for the link to that manual.

you're probably right but they almost all seem to not work when people get them and then post on here.
here's the link to the website where the satomi schematic/ info originally came from. this guy is one of the go-to guys in the pinball world and he may be able to help.

Ain't it funny how that works.

I think the hard to read hand drawn schematic is the one for these games. Ain't it funny how that works too.

Someone made a note on there to replace power supply caps if the balls don't drop correctly. Probably wouldn't hurt to spend a couple more bucks and replace the rest.

Do be careful when removing that shiny cover from the circuit board - it has parts attached.

    boardoops.jpg

somebody wasn't aware of that and ripped some wires out.

darned right it didn't work when it came home!

Anyone curious as to what a failed capacitor actually looks like? Here ya go. Front and center. Three 25v 10uf caps in a row there. Note that the center one has popped up out of the glue/varnish that the factory dripped there for whatever unknown reason. Also note that the bottom of this one has an odd rounded form that the others don't. They call that "blown". There's one problem found.

    badcap.JPG

Here's a snip of the power supply schematic.

    capit.jpg

That's not my writing, but if he says a cap kit fixes the game I'll give it a try..

I'm working on a shopping list for the electronics place. There are a couple of caps on my board that have been replaced and I'm not sure if the values are correct. Might need someone to check another board for those numbers.

    So far I have:

    1000uf 25v axial (2) $1.35 ea.

    100uf 25v axial (1) $0.35

    47uf 25v radial (3) $0.20 ea.

    10uf 25v radial (6) $0.20 ea.

    plus two unknowns. $0.20 ea.

Just barely made the $5 minimum order. https://greatplainselectronics.com/c...ies.asp?cat=75

The manual has schematics for two completely different boards. One has 15 chips and the other 14. This post refers to the 14 chip board.
