    no it isnt Pachinko related.

    its a general interest item...

its a new technology, helping to stop workshop accidents..

Table saws are among the top culprits in woodshops for lopping off a finger

of course the band saw and the scroll saw are probably higher up on the list but you get the idea..

thought it was something neat to share.

but if you like you can imagine having this to build all those wonderful cabinets that we see...

Nice safe machine, I have been seeing this in Fine woodworking mags for about a year now, As a part time cabinet maker this could help the novice reduce injury's. I have 25+ years experience and 10 fingers.
every time this safety feature activates it is a one time deal. $$ to replace it, and I know fingers are worth more.
It seems to use an electrical circuit to activate, close the circuit and the stop fires into the blade, ruining the blade, and the stop. misfires could get costly $65- $100 per blade the stop $??$.
Oh I put the first coat of finish on my new pachislo stand will post somewhere soon.
FYI the WORST finger remover (best?) is the dreaded radial arm saw, My father notched a finger (I had to perform the first aid, tape if back together) And a co-worker lost a finger to this dangerous machine. I almost never use mine anymore.

yup can be expensive if you dont have any sense...
but like you said can you put a price on a finger, or what of the medical expenses that may be incurred.

if you add it up its not that expensive after all..

the guy I know who did cut off his finger had it sewn back on, it is useless, he should have left it off.

Well they are cool but Sid, I'm a bit concerned about your saw obsession...

By the way, the second jointmaker table saw would be great to cut cheese slice

back in 1984 I was assigned to the Repair & Utility Shop for my Battalion 707th at Fort Ord and one time I was cutting some triangle shapes on this wobbly , rickdy 9" table saw and got my right thumb a little too close to the moving blade and turned the tip of it into hamburger . Luckly we had a medic working in the shop and he did a quick patch and I got some time off . A couple months later I was checking the spare equipment lot on the Fort and found a 15" Rockwell Cabinetry table saw and quickly put a hold tag on it . It's a wonder that 27 years later I still have all my limbs .

Its not the saws fault , it's the loose nut running the saw.

i don't even have the blade guard on my table saw.it fell off a couple years ago,i couldn't find it a few months ago,so i used the saw without it.my radial saw is in the shed,i don't use it as much as the table saw .
