Default 1967 Nishijin Hope to restore this...

I found this on Craigslist with the intention on putting on a wall in my Pinball room. When I picked it up it was a little more weathered than I originally thought. Some rusting on the door chrome, but the playfield (cell?) has some water staining it appears. There also looks to be some type of hack on the upper portion of the main plastic jackpot plastic. It looks as though someone cut through it with a knife and added an extra diversion to activate a light, but there was no way it would ever trigger. Does anyone have any details on what the former owner was trying to do here . Thanks gents. looking forward to restoring this. What are my options with the water marks...

Don't know why they would redirect the ball path... Easier ways to trigger a light than that. Odd.

The pachinko parlors in Japan had workers scrub pachinko machines with a bucket of soapy water and a scrub brush. Since they were only intended to be in the parlor for a short time (typically a year), the water staining wasn't an issue.

There are numerous threads here about restoration and replacing play field graphics. I've done it. Not hard just the labor of it.

The switch and related plastic bits look like 'factory' parts, probably done for some reason in Japan.

Ok, I'd like to see what this looks like from the factory...looks like something is missing from the rear of the jackpot light too?

I'm not sure you're missing anything from the jackpot light. I think there's just supposed to be a light in a grommet shoved into the back of the jackpot light plastic.

So there's no way that extra leaf switch could get triggered right? Other than that mod, this looks pretty similar to my late 60s Nishijin single shot. I'll try to post some pics for you tonight. If you need to see something specific let me know.

I still think you can push a light socket with a grommet into that jackpot socket. The surrounding part looks different from mine, but the socket is the same.

Post a pic of your broken tray. Maybe someone here will have a replacement.

Where's the break? Looks like you might be missing the ashtray.

I think you're right...I saw another similar one that extended a bit further past the ash tray, but after looking at it again, I don't see a break in the metal, just some rub marks from where the ashtray used to be....but this might be just as hard to find as I'm sure they were lost frequently as well....but thanks for pointing that out...ashtray anyone?

It looks almost identical to mine. Take a look. The first one is before restoration. I'm not entirely sure how the left hand part of the tray/ashtray attaches, but I'll try to take more pics tonight.

On closer inspection it does look like that is all one piece on my machine after all. Now that it's in front of me, I also remember removing and restoring that piece a little more clearly and yeah, I think it was all one piece. Sorry.
