Default New Pachislo bought - seeking extra info

I've read the PDF on here and it answered a lot of questions I had operationally, but I do have a few more:
    1. Think there's a way to get it off Max Bet mode?
    2. What is supposed to happen when I push the "Skill" button on the power supply?
    3. Any other insights on this machine I might want to know about? Keep in mind the Operation Manual is all I now know about these things!
    4. Any modifications recommended?
    Thanks!!

    Hello

Your pachislo looks to be called 'Antonio Inoki' manufactured by Heiwa around 2003

Link to translated page (shows the settings and odds etc): Google Translate

I believe this model is a 'Max Bet Only' machine, so you cannot change it from requiring 3 tokens per play / spin

Never played or owned this one, but hopefully other members can assist with further info for you

In the meantime Welcome to PachiTalk!!

I'll also add the 'hard reset & odds change' instructions, just in case:

Here is some info that explains how to reset a pachislo, as part of this process it includes how to change and set the skill level, you must follow all steps carefully

"How To Set the Skill Levels of Your Pachislo
    HOW CHANGE ODDS:

    "TURN YOUR MACHINE OFF FIRST"

    1. Locate internal key switch, and insert key.
Note: In order to change odds, machine must be in idle mode with no tokens/coins or credits being played and off.

    2. Turn "reset" key switch to on, to access programming mode.

    3. Turn on machine now.

    4. Depending on machine type, a number from 1 to 6 will be displayed on one of the LED meters on front door. (please note on some models the numbers could be displayed inside the machine)

    5. Locate and push Skill button. Depress button and notice movement of number being displayed in LED meter.

    6. Once desired level is displayed (1 to 6), push down on play handle (Joy Stick) for 10 seconds, and depress both "BET CREDITS" and "COLLECT CREDITS" buttons to lock odds level into machine memory.

    7. Turn "reset" key back to off.

    8. Machine should immediately initialize. If not, turn power switch to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds and turn power switch back to ON position.

Also just to confirm some additional info (from member Chrisdice) regarding hard reset

Two switches on the power supply:
    - One requires a soft reset at the end of a bonus.
    - The other pays out all tokens at the end of a bonus.

For these switches in most cases off is in the down or right position. The for off and on are:

    無 = off

    有 = on

It is simply a 2 wire switch(single pole single throw,or SPST). jut unsolder the 2 wires. or snip them off at the switch terminals. Mount the switch, then solder the wires to the new switch terminals. It don;t matter which way they go back on. Or if you don't solder, use a switch with flat blades and crimp on connectors that fit the switch. Here are pics of me doing one on a Million God power supply.switch loosened 001.jpgswitch loosened 002.jpg It is easier to get to things if you remove the power supply box...and of course unplug it 1st! This one had a square hole, but a round shaft mount worked fine. 001.jpgIt helps to take the box to wherever you buy your switch from to test fit. 002.jpg Solder (or crimp spade connectors), and don't forget to focus the camera! 005.jpg I used shrink tube to insulate the connections, but this is not necessary. I also epoxied the nut in place because I overtightened the nut and stripped the threads. Also NOT necessary. When done, it will look like it was always there.004.jpg Put power supply back and enjoy being able to reset the game and set the odds. Not to mention the satisfaction of fixing it yourself, and not spending money for someone else to do it.

And the box isn't attached to a transformer or anything that stores a charge, even after it's unplugged? That's my main concern.

Always unplug it from the wall first. There should be nothing inside that will give you a whack. But if you want to play it extra safe. Switch it off at the wall outlet, not the machine. Then leave it overnight. But the overnight thing is a real overkill.

Looks like you got some really good information in the previous posts.

I also was hesitant in replacing the reset switch the first time I did one.
Was also worried about something in the power supply carrying a charge.
Honestly, just unplug the machine from the wall and you are "good to go".

About modifications, really the only modification that most all machines need is some type of aftermarket volume control.
There are several different types that will work. I like using these. 500 Ohm Potentiometer | 023-500

What if...the HOKEY POKEY, is what it's all about?

That's a soldering iron job for sure with that one.

Oh yeah, its got some stored charge. A nice switching power supply with high voltage. Remember, a transformer isn't designed to store a charge, a capacitor does, and those power supplies have a some big ones inside.
Like DC said, ff you want to drain the power supply, while the pachislo is powered up, open the door so that you can see the LEDs on the power supply. Now pull the plug from the wall outlet. You can watch the LEDs dim and go out. Once out, you are pretty safe there is no more charge inside of the power supply. If you were to not pull the plug, and just switch off the pachislo at the power supply, the LEDs might stay lit for a 20 to 30 seconds. Yeah, there's a charge in there.

If you can competently work a soldering iron, you can replace the key switch with a rocker switch. If you care for a different challenge, try de-pining the key switch so that anything turns it. I de-pined both the door lock and key switch, then the seller found the keys. Whoo-hoo!
