    Default My first cell purchase

Well I'm finally getting my first extra cell for the Lumina frame. It's a Shimura World. http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/loca...=23&linkid=574

No idea what it's about, but it looks like a comical one, very Japanesy (which I like), and it has an interesting looking spiral ball pocket on the playfield. Not sure if it's the GP or SP version. Thanks to Daverob's translated manual, it looks like a breeze to swap in. Now the question...who to swap out?

I got it from Hiro at CF. They are willing to sell cells-only now, when available, which could be great for us Dark Siders. It should be here Thursday.

Yes it is really easy to swap out cells and I am sure there is a video on here showing you how to do it as well.

One thing to remember if you have a Julie the Pinball- there's an extra step for that machine as one of the circuit boards hangs down in the way of the large green plastic frame. Facing the back of the machine, there's a plastic lever on the left side of it that will release it.

Simple step, but I can see someone going 'how the hell did that get there?'

The LCD is pushed so far back into the playfield to accommodate the pinball playfield that there wasn't room to mount the motherboard normally...

That was me last night... Had to run some wire through the frame, unlatched the green latches, and... huh? This one's different! At least they made it easy to remove. Also nice that 2 screws and 1 connector removes the monitor giving you access to the pinball playfield, which is really dirty (for another 7 hours or so anyway, then it's time to clean that cell with the PICA!).

    Very cool looking.

One of the reasons (but of course not the main one) I got a Star Wars is to swap cells eventually, since I have no more room.

Cool looking cell. Did Hiro take that out of a frame to sell to you? Or is he selling cells only?

I'm not really sure. I asked him what Lumina cells he had. He listed Indy, Star Wars, Marilyn Monroe and a fourth one which I think was for the Victory frame. I just asked if he had a Shimura World cell. He checked and said he did. Later on, I read someone's post here that he had a Julie cell. I asked him about that and he said he sold it already. So it sounds like either he isn't sure what cells he has or he's willing to pull out cells from beat up frames/doors. Either way it's a good thing. You pay about half the shipping cost and the cells are around $100 off what he charges for the full machine. Plus I don't have to try to find room for another one.

I'd fire him an email. If he sees enough interest, maybe cells would become a regular item.

I'd love a Lassen World cell next...although I don't think I could bear swapping out Maharaja. Plus Arby is giving me his 007 cell...he just keeps forgetting.
