Question Nishijin B 1st time caller... 1st time question

Greetings all, I had the joy of picking up a two "B" machines about a month ago and just picked up an "A" last week. Two months ago I had never heard of a pachinko machine now I am finding they are multiplying without much effort around my house. The real reason why I am here is that I decided I would take it apart one of the B's and spruce it up. Well that has turned into a deep dive and labor of love. Needless to to say everything has either been ran through a sonic cleaner, submerged in rust remover, and or rock tumbled with pecan shells. I am now at the point of reconstruction once I get the new playfield in later this week. So essentially a complete restoration, I will be foiling some of the pieces as well to get them back to some level of original standards.

The question I have is what is the clear rubber/silicon piece under the lost ball chute called (attached to the rail about 8 or so inches long) and are there replacements or reproduction parts of those made?

I have attached photos of the progress for ridicule and hazing as a newbie !

Thanks for taking the time to read and I appreciate any help or guidance.

Welcome to the forum, sounds like you're off to a good start.

Is this the piece you're asking about (see red arrow)? I haven't found a replacement piece for any of mine, I've tried cleaning them with "Totally Awesome" cleaner as well as Simple Green, then tried Novus as well as Turtle Wax Plastic Restorer, neither one really did anything though, but they're cleaner than they were originally.

Maybe another forum member has a solution they'll post.

It is currently in pieces so it is beyond cleaning. It needs to be replaced. My apologies for not being more clear. Thank you for the cleaning tips though. Always on the look out to learn more tips and tricks.

im not really sure what that piece does, even though i'm sure there's a good reason. have rebuilt a couple without using that part if it's fully faulty or too dirty to get clean

I too have a couple of machines that didn't appear to have ever had that part and they work just fine.

I think it is to keep particulate matter from falling onto the launch rail, and possibly to provide sound deadening by being pressed against the inner surface of the glass.?

Whatever the reason, they can be in bad shape or missing and that means a good excuse to try and make a reproduction. So I removed a sample from a model B and recreated it in my CAD software this morning. The smaller selected piece is the center section which copied and used to print a test.

Didn't know if the printer could reproduce the thin flexible front edge, but it did just fine. I have some clear TPU filament being delivered today. I don't know how clear it can print but I'll give it a try as it does fit the full length on my larger printer

I believe it is for keeping particulate matter from falling into the launch rail, as well.

Don't know about the sound deadening. Model A's have a similar piece, but is made from metal and is spring loaded to press against the glass.

Let me know how the print comes out. I will be interested in seeing it. Good luck!

I printed my drawing out with the new material and it fits perfectly... But it's not clear or even close. It's White, probably due to tiny air bubbles in the plastic. 3D clear track seal in place.jpg
That could be a printer setting adjustment, but this filament is fairly new for me and I am still trying to see if I can get a better result.
If white is acceptable, I'll send you one. If not I am working on it and trying to improve the results.

This part fits both B and C models.

translucent items can be made more transparent with some light sanding (1200 grit) and then spraying with clear gloss topcoat.

I like it white. Most vintage playfield's have a white background and it would blend right in.

Even in some cases, different colors would look good.
