    Default Three Is Company

Tonight I picked up my third pachinko machine; a 70s Sankyo model B. It's in rougher shape than the other two, but most of the essential parts appear to be present.

It's missing the jackpot cover and the seesaw cover on the other side of the ball dump, and it looks like someone tried wiring a transformer for the lights.

I was able to get most of the balls out, but there are still a few hung up behind one of the tulips and right below the jackpot, so I haven't been able to properly test it yet. Other than that I think it's a cool machine.

Also, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'd like to say I'm thankful for family & friends, a roof over my head, and a job (and for Pachitalk and it's great community.

I am also thankful for being fortunate enough to find 3 pachinko machines in my area, and to have the opportunity to bring them back to life. I know it's not a big deal, but I'm glad I had the chance to break into a great hobby.

    Thanks!

Page 016 of the book Pachinko Mei-Ki Collection (パチンコ名機コレクション) has a Daido machine with the same center and calls it "Center Kangaroo" (センターカンガルー).

Looks good! I have a (nearly) identical machine. I was going to make a thread on it, but I haven't gotten around to it. One day soon I'll make it.
Anyway, I'm also missing the jackpot cover. How are you planning on fixing yours? I have the original one from mine, but it's crumbled to pieces. I'm not sure if it's possible to glue it together or just 3d print a new one?

Just wondering what you guys do for spare parts like that

Do you happen to have a picture for reference? Having trouble finding pictures with the back opened up.

Sweet, thanks! I'll have to keep an eye out for one. It doesn't look like a complex part, so I may be able to fabricate something that would work in the mean time. I should be able to test it without the jackpot cover, right? It's primary function seems to be just to protect the moving parts.

Still trying to figure out what is causing my jam, but I think I just need a slightly stronger magnet pen to move the inside balls around. Hoping I don't run into any nasty surprises while I'm at it.

    Thanks again!

I have added a couple inch piece of plexi to the back where the cover mounts to keep the jackpot balls from bouncing out

There were a good few balls I already cleared out of the machine after messing with it for a bit, and I put a ball through a tulip to see if things just needed a nudge. The tulip did close, but now there are 2 balls behind the lower right tulip, and about 8 hung up behind the center tulip just below the jackpot. Everything below that appears to be clear from what I can see.

I wanted to clear all balls from the machine before I loaded more to minimize the problem.

I think something is going on with the series of small levers that trigger the tulips; either something broke or there is dust/debris. I might just have to pull a couple of the covers off...

Balls do go to strange places when the machine is moved.

Definitely. I tried emptying it before transport, but I just couldn't get them all. I'll just have to open it up....

empty all the balls you can..

then flip the machine upside down and tip it left to right a few times to get the balls heading the right direction...

i have had to take the back off a few times but 95% of the time i can get them out with out removing all the back..

Success. I was able to corral the stuck balls behind the tulip, then funnel them down to the jackpot seesaw. From there you just cycle the machine manually.

    Thanks!
