These bypass-fixes are good to get into the machine, but what about if the person wants to change the odds? Both my Net and Olympia machines need the front door key to be used to change the payoff odds. No key = no changing of payoff odds.

once the door is open, can you not manupulate the latch system so it thinks a key has turned it???

or depin the lock so any key will work

Actually the odds key is a completely different key. Each machine should have 2 keys...one to open the cabinet, and one to change the odds. The odds key is simply a key activated SPST (single pole single throw) switch. It can be relatively easy to convert. I have replaced them on two of my machines. You can get a switch from Radio Shack for about $1.99. You may want to have already removed the key switch first, so you will know what size hole it has to fit in. Get a switch from the cabinets that has the bulbs, connectors, switches, etc. Don't expect too much help from the employees...unless you need to buy a cell phone! They don't seem to understand anyone trying to fix or build anything...some of them don't even know that they carry these parts, and may tell you they don't have them! Any switch that fits the hole and has 2 contacts will work. The rest of what you need to know is covered in this thread: tomb raider no key If you have any questions, just ask...many members have done this modification.

Yes, I believe it is called a "soft reset" but a key is required for a "hard reset". I believe his concern was changing the odds, requiring the key, power switch, and spin knob. Unless I misunderstood.

On both of my machines, I need the front door key to change the odds. There is one key inside to turn to get it into the "program" mode, per se, but then the door key is used to change the odds themselves (between 1 and 6). The spin knob is depressed to "lock in" the odds.

The front door key on my machines (a Net and an Olympia) is turned right to unlock the door, but turned left to change the odds.
