    Default History of Pachinko

Well, with the addition of several months of research I have finally expanded my "History of Pachinko" page with a bunch of new information.

    http://pachinkoplanet.com/zencart/in...vk4qlm2sr4olk0

Tons more information now. Lots of info now on when different companies began as well.

Hey james It all looks good but there are some minor things that I'd want to change. (they are underlined in the paragraph I copied from your site)

In 1975 several importers began flooding the retail stores in America with used pachinko machines from Japan. Mildly "refurbished", these machines were sold through chain outlets such as Sears, Kmart, Pier 1 imports, and Woolworth. The vast majority were Nishijin recycler style machines from 1971-1972 and Shiroi-Kamome versions from 1973-1975. The true number imported and sold in America is unknown, but it is certainly in the millions. Many pachinko machines still bear the stickers from importers such as Pachinko Palace and The Pachinko Factory all of which were imported into areas of Southern Califorina and then distributed to the states.

The last underline should be in there but I'll leave the formatting up to you. And seeing you mentioned the Model A and B in that paragraph you should have a short thing about each above; to let people know what they are.

Sorry for being a little picky but I want to help you make it the best it can be. (of course if you want you can completely ignore my suggestions.)

    Thanks Mark!

I made the suggested changes and added my own "flair" to it. Good looking out! I missed the pier 1 imports for sure, and added Target Abroad and Meshulam's as distributors I had neglected as well.

also just as a recommendation I did notice a few spelling errors on your models page under Nishijin. so you might want to just review it all and copy and paste it into word to double check spelling. Trust me I know it is annoying fixing all those mistakes I have delt with it before.

I was too young to know what mine was from the 70s. It came from a store that specialized in Pachinko machines too!

My best friend got a Nishijin "Jaws" B machine for his 13th birthday in January 1979...I remember it vividly, because I was SO jealous. It came from Sears, and I'm pretty sure the price was $49.99. My birthday was the following month. I didn't get one...
I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

I ran into that some time ago. Found it interesting...but not riveting. I was upset that you could not enlarge the pics. But was most amused with the translation. I guess they don't call it babelfish for nothing!

It did however give me a clue to something I had been looking for, and was able to verify. The Marudai New Prince was produced in late 1960, with the model swelling to huge sales in 1961-1962. It was created to commemorate the birth of Crown Prince Naruhito (1960), and the Japanese people went bananas over it. Apparently in Japan it is considered one of the most valuable machines of the era and highly collectable. Kind of like if the brits had made one for the marriage of Charles and Diana.

I have been working on learning to read Kanji for months now, I understand why the translations get so mangled now.

a nisihijn called "tele pachi man"-looks like a vid screen in play field center.
    heiwa with front opening pockets.
an homage to star wars or a blatant copy.
a collector, restorer? these books have tons of info covering pachinko history and development. also one has a timeline with pictures to describe events in the history from day one. great info and i had one of the books translated about a quarter way through and then broke the computer containing the data. i'll try again someday...
