Default Need a little assistance with a 80's ? daichi vanguard

I picked up this little gem a few months ago and now just getting it cleaned up and ready for play.

However, the flipper does not reset the next ball for play...

I think there is something missing at the tip of the plastic half moon just above the tension spring.

    Is there a piece missing?

Without a few more pics and info, I would say the reward hopper at the top rear of your machine is empty. the vertical linkage at the the left of your pic ties to a lever that is weighted down by the balls in the hopper. Without them, the shooter tray in the front is disengaged. Try filling it up or pull down gently on that linkage and see if the shooter resets and feeds balls from the front tray.

Great job MOPAR! I don't have time to take pics...but wire was the first thing I noticed wrong. Low balls will stop feeding, but without the wire...NO GO. Fortunately it is an easy fix with scrap found for free! Move the plastic piece by hand (make sure there are enough balls up top to weigh doun the low ball shut off) and see if a ball loads to the shooter. If yes, then make a stiff wire to a shape that will move the plastic piece when it ts bolted to the shooter. A piece of 12 ga copper wire would work...it don't have to be that strong, 14 ga should work as well.

    Tommy,

Is that a part I need to purchase or just bend a coat hanger?

You can't really purchase any parts unless you can find a person (member) selling what you need. So you basically have to make your own.

    Also to Pachitalk!

Coat Hanger Ok don't take that to offense. As stated. With these machines, you either have to source a scrap machine or make your self. So in a way, yes your right. A coat hanger bent round a curved object like a pen or wooden dowel so to keep its shape will work and look right. Keep us updated. We like to see people make do and get machines working again.

A coat hanger will work...but WAY thicker than necessary, and harder to work with. Copper wire like used in house wiring (ROMEX), will be plenty stiff enough, and easy to bend and tweak once installed. 14 gauge should be good enough...12 gauge would be stiffer, but still easy to bend. It only has to move that plastic finger to load a ball into the shooter. Have you moved the lever (with enough balls in the top tray, and some balls in the shooter tray) to confirm that is the problem?

Everyone is right, no need to buy a part like that (tough to buy anyways). Pachiwall is right, it does not have to be very thick. I am however stripping down my machine and will be selling parts on ebay. If you are missing anything else I can get it to you for free. I won't be putting them on ebay anytime soon, so no rush. Unfortunately the part you need I am keeping.
