Default Please help Identify this Vintage machine...

    Hey all,

I swear that I have seen this particular machine before, but can't find it again (figures!).

The pictures are below, and someone from my area is selling it - I offered them $30 for it (they asked me for $80).

Here's what they told me (apparently, they were yelling at the time):

"IT IS A LITTLE DIRTY AND DUSTY. DON'T KNOW IF IT WORKS OR NOT. IT HAS NO KEY. I THINK IT IS FROM THE 1093'S TO 1960'S NOT SURE. IF IT DOESN'T WORK THEN IT COULD BE USED FOR PARTS. I THINK IT IS JAPANESE OR CHINESE. THAT IS ALL I KNOW ABOUT IT. ALSO HAVE THE STEEL BALLS TO MANY TO COUNT AND THE PAPER WORK ON HOW TO PLAY"

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt!

    Hey guys,

Yea, I'm asking for a better picture now as well... In the meantime, here's a response I got from the owner:

"60 is the lowest I will go someone else that came out said that it still works and not that bad in shape and if I don't get the $80 then the balls are not included."

This person has no clue what this machine is, therefore they are keeping the balls as a punishment for the lower price. As if she'll have some use for them...hah.

That's like tearing out the page numbers on a book that sells at a reduced price; crucial to the book, and garbage otherwise.

I just have a hard time paying $80 for a vintage when I have occassionaly seen excellent condition modern machines with LCD displays and the whole-9-yards for for $30!!

That's the thing with these machines - someone finds one, and figures that since they are Japanese, and electric, that the price has to start at $300! Then other people see that and use that as a base price...slippery slope!

    Later,

    Matt!

    Welcome to PachiTalk!!

From the photos you posted, it looks to me like a 1975-ish Nishijin Sophia "B" series. I just completed a restoration of one and the decorations around the play area look very similar (round jackpot hopper empty light in upper left; verticle jackpot payout light along right side). I typically pay $35-$45 for these on Craigslist, depending on condition.

You might consider responding back to the seller and let them know that if it still unsold after 3-4 weeks, then you would be willing to give them $35-40 for it. Others on this baord use that tactic and it seems to work.

Again, welcome to PachiTalk!! Glad to have you here.

It is a Nishijin B "barefoot man fishing". A very fun machine - the tulips open for several different jackpot combinations. A lot of combinations for the center jackpot.

Here is a pic of mine:

    Default *Sigh* Garbage?

    Hey all...

Ok, here's my newest response, and it seems that this is in horrible shape. This lady thinks that this is the most rare item ever, and is worth the price no matter what condition!

Here's her response (I left the grammar errors in for your enjoyment!):

"... hears some more pictures the front close-up you can see when I bought it from this person he had it stored wear there was moisture and when I got it or before I got it when I opened the glass case it was sweating so it let stains right there in the picture you can see. other then that it should work with a good cleaning and tighten down screws its a nice pinball. the last guy said the only things he see missing are 2 nails in the inside of game were the balls go though there trial.. wood on the side could use a new stain or touch up. let me no any more?"

    Here are the pics:

On a side note, a flea market here is selling a similar one for $60 - I have attacheed that pic below to this post. I may check that out as well.

Looks to be in very bad shape - stains, missing nails, broken tulip...

Stained playfields are something that can't really be remedied, so unless it's just minimal staining, that you can live with, then I personally would give it a miss at that price

I'm pretty sure that you will find others for sale and better condition at that price level, although it's not easy to be patient when it comes to pachinko
