Default What to do? Any suggestions?

I had bid on a machine and was not the high bidder but a few days later received a second chance offer, it was from a private seller not a vendor. The price seemed good $50.00 and the shipping caculator only showed it would be $26.21. The picture on the auction showed a New Red Pulsar and when it arrived yesterday it was a different machine all together. I got shipped to me a Net machine called Julian. It is in rough shape and very dirty. I would have to talke it apart to clean it well and fix the box that is coming apart and paint it. The seller offered to refund $25.00 back to me. I think I have an idea how these machines can look when they come off a container. My ? is should I take the $25.00 refund and pray I can get this machine looking okay or ask for a total refund and ask him to pay to ship it back.
    and a few others.

It all depends on if you want to go through the process of cleaning/repairing the machine. Look at it this way, where else ya gonna get a machine for $50.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

I agree with the spiked raven...If fixing it up would interest you. Either way, still a descent buy. A bunch of spare parts if it is not fixable.

Same here, for the $$$ I would probably keep it. It is a Net machine at least.

Julian is the NETS ZETT -30 chassis it is their work horse best built.
being you didn't buy thru ebay, you really are hanging out there.
Take his 25 and fix it.
now if you paid with paypal jile a complant with them, but you still will not get your funds back.

only the aucution seller can do a second offer, you bought from a third party.

I did get it thru ebay. The second chance offer was from the seller and was a "buy it now offer" for my high bid amount. It appears that he had bought a lot at an auction and had more than the one machine he had listed originally and pictured. I will say this machine is pretty much all in english.

OK I was going by you statement "I had bid on a machine and was not the high bidder but a few days later received a second chance offer, it was from a private seller not a vendor."
I thought your vendor was the seller and private seller was a third party.

Than forget what I said and ask for a full refund and a call tag.
    Sorry about the miss-understanding

For $50, you can clean it, fix it and have something to be proud of and learn something in the process, and get a nice machine very cheap.

Or, you can send it back and go through a ton of hassle.

    No brainer to me.

If you got the 2nd chance offer from someone other than the person that you made the 1st bid with, you got scammed and that should be reported to eBay. If you purchased the machine via eBay/Paypal and it is a legit auction/seller... take the money and clean it up, it is a good deal if it is one of the newer models that does not need a transformer.

If you do keep it always take pictures as you take anything apart. This will help you later when you put it back together.

Corner brackets are great for repairing the box on corner separation. Square up the box and on the inside screw in the brackets, clean out all staples and use a very good wood glue to put the sides together, remember to keep it square. after dried 2 days for sure put the brackets in. hardware stores have them, small pilot drill holes for screws.
After box is done, rehang the door if you removed it. Use your pictures to put anything back in place you removed.

Oh, I would paint the box after it is fixed before you rehang anything.

I still think he should give it to me for a small fee. I'll even meet him halfway. MN isn't that far and I'd love a Julian. And a project. I'm obsessed with my projects.
