I can see what you mean Sid, but maybe OC PBS tv reporters are just like that..

According to their website they were out there on Saturday interviewing people..So the show is real the real question is was it a prank or is he just that big a dufus..

Maybe someone from OC can tell us..

well what i mean by staged is that this was arranged by the reporter and the sculptor guy not that it was made as an acting thing.. in hopes of gaining public interest for this "feel good" news item

and the reasons i think its staged are

first off.. the guy is "sculpting" in the middle of the tents in the sun? you would think that somethign as intricate as sculpting isnt going to be done in the middle of the sun.. not so much for the sculpture but from the sun beating down on his head all the time it takes to sculpt it.

secondly... his reaction to the sculpture falling is well too mellow. and he walks away too quickly.. and the verbal exchange by both the reporter and the sculptor is like... bland...

if you had just spent time making one of these things you would just nonchalantly go away. you wouldn't at least talk to the guy (not talking violence here) but.. what were you thinking bone head! i was here 2 hours making this and you come over and knock it over..

Yeah it's staged. Everyone is wearing light clothing and as Sid mentioned the dude is sculpting ice while it's sitting directly on asphalt in the middle of the tents.

Unless this is really old, everyone is using wired mics, who uses wired in the last ten years?

Also notice there is no channel sig on that screen anywhere. What station during their newscasts aren't running a channel sig on the screen?

I used to work at a local station as a camera man and was in a commercial once for a local machine shop. I was the disgusted car owner who rattles the radiator cap with my hand and disgustedly throws my rag into the engine. Same move as the disgusted guy throwing his tool. You couldn't get enough milk from a cow to make that much cheese.

Well it is just like a second digital only public station, so I don't think its too odd that they have wired mics!!

Hey, I think its a set up too..probably..(the drop, not the show) but I have seen reporters do things just as dumb, thats why I'll believe if its real too!!

Many of the comments in the video indicate a belief it was staged. I find it very hard to believe an experienced reporter would stick the mic into the face of an angry man with a high potential to drop an F bomb on live TV. He does it several times, though. But if it is in fact staged, why would they do it??

So tell me, is this one staged???

as a person that rides.. (rarely but from time to time) a rider has to be totaly defensive... if your not thinking that every one is out to kill ya then your gona get into trouble... riding out into trafic without looking?? i dont think so

Well Roland actually replied to me!!

Sounds truthful to me, It seems to go along with the reporter being a ass and Roland being "tired of guys like this"

The reporter was trying to be funny by pushing it over, we didn't know he
was going to. We have had other reporters try to be funny by breaking or
messing with our work, not sure why. No big deal, we just would've liked to
have been in on it.
