What should I expect to pay for a working Star Wars? The first one with R2D2. In Florida.

Hard to say. If in good condition with at least 500 balls. Doesn't have cold start up issues. I think $300 would be fair. $500 if its advertized in a collectors market. Better price if more balls and a big bonus if its not the ZF version. But thats basing it on a 20 year old machine with a popular theme. I've had all 3 star wars and the first is my least favourite, so to be honest, that does cloud my judgement. If some one offered me one for free, I'd take it just so I can put a different cell board in it.

Also UK market is very different to the US

Well the First one has that animatronic R2D2 on the right hand side and only covers the First Three Movies (1977-198?) And it is in the Lumina frame with Filament lamps on both sides on the front and not All L.E.D.S but go for it If it checks out with no problems

I.E. : Corrosion on connectors and boards , Fully functional (Lights up and plays and pays out balls, How "Smoky" is it cause that takes a bunch of Free breeze to get the stale tobacco smells out . and the big clean up of that sticky tobacco resin on the machine .

I agree with previous $300 assessment of sold locally . Being nearly 20 years old it’s somewhat of ticking time bomb capacitor wise.

$400+ on eBay though

In comparison to other cells in this Lumina frame Julie pinball and Casino Bisty are much better lumina cells in general gameplay wise, even Vicky Chance is more fun in my opinion. Star Wars gets very repetitive with the music.

I did have one of those Densha se Go 2 a while back but one of our members here wanted it and promised to take good care of it .

Please tell me more about the capacitor problem.

Well it's not a capacitor which seems to go wrong. One of the graphics chips doesn't like the cold and/or being switched off for long periods. It causes the screen not to function correctly and the animatronics to go a bit screwy. After a while it either fixes its self or turn off and back on clears it.

Or it could just mean in general. Electronics starting to break down.

I was recently called out to a job. Where a fuse had blown on a 14 year old piece of equipment. Still the original fuse from new. Who knows why it blew. After replacing it. Never blew again.

Maybe they don’t use the same capacitors on this cell as all the other lumina cells (but maybe they do??) ; however I’ve personally had 3 “dead” LCD screens all on Lumina cells; Marilyn Monroe, Fever Powerful and Miracle Carpet all were due to bad capacitors on the board that controls the LCD; not the screen itself. That’s an extremely high failure rate in my opinion. Buyer beware…

That said; my Star Wars still has good capacitors it seeems and no startup issues (knock on wood)

I sold all of three of the cells that stopped working to someone who likes electronic repair and they replaced the capacitors on the board fixing those the “dead” screen on those cells.
