HE Error: Hopper spits out tokens but does not count them

Alright, so I have a weird issue on several of the machines I have come across lately. When the machines go to pay out they spit out tokens but does not take them away from the total count it should payout. A few of the machines started the payout process correctly then stopped counting them (but continued to eject tokens). Doing a soft reset just makes it spin the hopper and eject tokens for about 3 secs then it times out to the HE message again.
The hopper itself works well because when I transfer it to a machine I know is working properly it functions well. I cleaned them and my tokens anyway. It has happened on several machines (Max by Aruze, Baby Angle & CC Angle By Macy, and Frozen Nights by Universal) and I am sure I will run into it again.
Does anyone have any ideas? I don't have a key to do a hard reset... if there is another way let me know. I work at a place that got a container of random machines and have kinda taken over making sure they work properly but honestly have no idea what I am doing haha

I'm no expect, as I prefer the dark side of the forum But it might be worth taking the hoppers out and checking/ cleaning the little photocell that detects a coin has been ejected, Also as a matter of course, Just double check all plugs are seated correctly

The hoppers have been apart to ridiculous point during cleaning o.O And I just checked all the connections, seem good but I wiggled 'em around just to make sure. No changes yet.

I'm not the most technically minded regarding pachislos, but it seems odd that you have having these problems with more than one machine and indeed with machines by different manufacturers.

I'm thinking the problem can't be the hopper??

I think perhaps you need to start with the basics to work through the troubleshooting methodically.

I would start with a proper reset of your machines, a reset can cure a multitude of problems, here is a link to the reset procedure:

there is also something else for you to check in that post too, some pachislos require a reset after a bonus and there are 2 switches usually on the power supply, you need to make sure these are in the 'off' position, the link above shows you which Japanese character is for 'off' and 'on', it could be that your machines have been set to require a proper reset after a payout??

Hehe. I didn't put that because GM4L said that they didn't have the key for that So just went with what could be done, with what is availible

Ah! Ya'll are awesome. I found a wire pinched to the point it broke inside the plastic on one (and replaced it) and that reset worked for the others! Glad you knew what you were looking for hanabi, I don't think I ever would have located that post!
