Default The Classic Cartoon Machines - Your Choice?

I am down to three choices for a classic cartoon machine (I classify classic cartoon as cartoons that I know/grew up with).

    1) Popeye
    2) Pink Panther
    3) Woody Woodpecker

It looks like the first two have some problems with play on the right side because of the decorations and stuff, is this correct? How much does that affect gameplay on these machines? Looking at the Woody Woodpecker machine, it looks like the LCD screen is larger and the whole field is playable. Am I seeing that correctly?

Any input would be most appreciated as I continue to whittle down my list .

    Thanks all!

    -Jeff

    Let's see....

These are all good (not great though) machines for different reasons:

    Woody Woodpecker

positives: good gameplay, higher chance of big bonus, nice large LCD
negatives: animation is kind of slow (not fluid), just so-so in the bells and whistles department

    Popeye:

positives: quality machine, all animation smooth, and has a very "western" feel to it
negatives: gameplay a little complex to the point of being slightly frustrating

    Pink Panther:

positives: interesting multi-line reel system, fairly good animation, pretty OK bells and whistles
negatives: gameplay is very vanilla, wish they had used the '70s pink panther characters

As for Popeye and PInk Panther not having the right side of the field to play on, most Japanese players play on the left so manufacturers acknowledge this by leaving out the right side altogether.

Sonic is a great choice but not sure if he would fit under "classic". The problem with these cartoon-based (less so with the anime-based) machines is that they are using existing characters with their traits, quirks, and distinctive animation styles and trying to fit them into the pachinko world which requires faster and quicker scenes and a lot of the time it sort of cheapens (for lack of a more polite term) the original cartoon because you always feel like you want to see more and/or establish a better connection with the characters.

Sonic was ingeniously planned in that they incorporated the gameplay of the videogame and the different types of stages very smoothly to almost make it like a complete story. In contrast, a lot of the cartoon based ones feel like you're watching a bunch of disconnected "key" scenes from the original.
