    Default Carpet Cleaning

Anyone have an opinon on what is THE best type of carpet cleaning to have done?

I have heard cleaning carpets shortens the life by loosening the latex backing so you want to limit exposure to heavy water.

I have wool type berber I think.

    Opinions?

David R I'm an expert on this been around the flooring industry since i could walk. Most berbers are nylons wools are EXTREMELY expensive it depends on what type of cleaning. like stain removal or just a yearly cleaning let me know.

It's a berber for sure, and bought from Lowe's if that means anything. I am nearly positive it is a wool blend because the guy said it would stain easier and it cost more, but would last longer or something. I was sorta against the wool, but for somereason it is sticking in my head we ended up with it. It was being discontinued or something and the price was right.

My goal is a general cleaning, but it is stained and slight odor from a puppy last year. The padding is the upgraded stuff. I can't remember. I want to say it wasn't the ground up foam, but instead a rippled like rubber.

    Does that help?

the company my dad works for does all the work for lowes they outsource their installations to companies. If you just want to give it a yearly cleaning to remove natural stains just get a local company to steam clean it if its a pet stain i would suggest using water on a rag and try to blot it out but dont soak it because the backing can get damaged. Do you remember if the pad had a blue plasticy layer on top of it? If so its an odor ban pad which is a good pad which liquids will have a hard time soaking into. but if it is wool be very careful because it does get damaged easy

I clean my own carpet with my own machine. Our carpet is white and is perfecto. Do it when it needs it in the traffic areas only. Works for me.

Any recommendations on getting out a nasty stain. Orange Juice. Steam cleaning has lightened it but not removed it. I also tried a bit of the cleaner fluid on a rag and then scrubbed it with a brush. ?

if mineral spirits doesnt work you can try goof off but use it sparingly because it can ruin the back on the carpet.

Woolite OXY-Deep Stain Remover has been able to clean anything and everything I've ever tried it on -- red wine, kool-aid, tomato juice. It has that Oxy-Clean stuff in it that was all over TV a few years ago. It works!

Hardwood pays really REALLY well. $2 per square foot. I know a couple guys who are making 3-6000 a week just installing hardwood!

Most of the house is hard wood. This is just the edge of the family room connects with the kitchen. Kids spilt the drink. Per the ozzy suggestion. I am waiting until the kids are old enough then I will move without telling them......
