Default How many Pachinko balls in a modern machine?

How many Pachinko balls are typically in a modern machine? I am about to buy one off Clover and want to know if I need more than the given 500 to load it up... Am I going to need a Pachinko cup to hold my payouts while I play?

You’re going to need 1500-2000 balls to play comfortably. You’ll load the top hopper, front tray, and still need some in reserve to refill the front tray until you hit a fever. You can get by with fewer balls if you have a cyclic conversion on the machine (only about 50 needed) or if you’re using a ball lifter and a Dave Rob dongle you can get by with 1000 balls that basically just recirculate themselves until you hit a fever.

I'd suggest 1000-2000 balls if you can afford them with a first modern machine. 500 balls makes it playable but you will have various amounts in three areas. The payout hopper in back can hold several hundred alone depending on the model. Consider that you will always have balls in the shooter tray and as used balls in the rear bottom bin. So the 500 balls will create a lot of shuffling around of the balls, especially during a fever round. If adding a machine then you could borrow balls between machines. Perhaps start with 1000 and buy more later if desired.

As for a tray there are various sizes and colors from the parlors. You could use some simple kitchen storage containers to hold and move the balls around as well. A shallow rectangular bin does well in the rear to catch the used balls.

Hi Spyer138! Similar thoughts but an awful slow internet here tonight.

This is a link to my album with some of my trays to give you an idea of sizes and colors. There is a huge variety out there but no so available at times stateside.

OK, going with 1500 to start. I appreciate everyone's feedback, thank you.

Just keep in mind that depending on the model # 1/99 or 1/399 you will have to refill the top hopper A LOT. It's annoying and makes getting a fever give me more anxiety than anything else IMO!
I am working with another member to create a box top that will fit on top and hold more balls! Either way its a little work to play these without a cabinet.

1500 is a good start. If you are buying a modern game you will only fit about 500 balls in the top hopper (payout area) and you can fit around that many (maybe a few less) in the play box.

Fever is like a jackpot in a casino (remember these are used for gambling in Japan). So a Fever typically has rounds to it and is when the machine goes nuts and plays music etc. You get a lot of return balls from the bonus points scored. Most newer games have a separate area of the play field with trap doors that open that you need to aim for during this mode. Usually it involves turning your knob farther too.

    out of all the Eva’s, I like 9 the best. I’ve played 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

The 1/99 ver of 9 is pretty fun.

    What version of 8?

Not sure, the Premium 8 one from Clover. I did a lot of research its tough they all have their pros and cons so you got to start somewhere... Cosmetically for my man cave the 8 Premium has always been on my list so I figured a start with that, if I like it I had my eyes set on a couple of others like 9 and 10. The 2018 version looks insane I hope Clover gets a hold of that soon.

12 is pretty fun to play. If you like really crazy machines, check out the newest Garo. This one is loads of fun to play.

once you get machine, and 1500 balls, play it a while, get a few fevers, you will learn problems you have, and whatever those problems are, post it, and others will give you advise, and remember if you like it, your collection will grow
