connect the multimeter up to the bell connection and watch it when the bell is supposed to activate.

    Resurrecting an old thread,

I just sold three pachislos and a stand up vintage arcade machine. A contractor spotted a few of my machines. He asked how much and I gave him an inflated price and he was suddenly pulling out his wallet. So now I was able to pull the Super Planet T out of mothballs and get to work on it again. After the cleanup, I purchased a bell which was missing on my machine but it drew too many amps and blew a fuse in the machine. Now when it comes to multimeters, I'm a complete novice. Would anyone know the setting I would need to be in to determine the output? And if the output is determined, I might need some help in determining which bell to purchase.

The Super Planet T is different in several ways from all of my other machines in the way it plays. First, although it has a speaker, there is no sound for functions other machines always produce noises for, such as inserting medals, depressing the spin lever, and stopping the reels. Another difference is this is the first machine I have come across without a replay function or symbol on the reels. Another difference I've noticed is the machine will pay on multiple lines. Most pachislos will only pay on a second line if you get "cherries" on the top or bottom line only. The payout on these machines is typically 4 credits, with 2 coming from the horizontal line and 2 from the diagonal. The Super Planet T will occasionally pay on three lines, the two typical lines coming from the cherries and it's possible to line up an additional row of fruits which I've done several times.

A couple more differences are the machine requires a hard reset after a big bonus. At least mine does. Someone took the locking bar off the door and so I inserted a dummy lock so I wouldn't have a hole. There doesn't appear to be any wiring that went to the previous lock and there are no switched on the power supply that would be found on newer pachislos that make the hard reset an option.

The last east difference is the most interesting. It is the way payouts occur during a bonus round. When the jac-in occurs, you spin the reels with a bet on a single medal. Several of the symbols on each of the reels has "jp" written across them. If you stop the first reel and hit a jp symbol, it pays 15. To move onto the middle reel, you pay one more medal and then you are allowed to stop the second reel. Likewise with the third reel. I've never seen a machine pay like this. Watch the video below:

Set the meter for 200v, that will cover you for anything it can put out. If set for dc and the voltage jumps from plus to minus, reset it to ac. I don't think it will damage the meter if set for the wrong type. Someone with more electrical knowledge can jump in any time.

I tapped into the two wires I had previously used to connect my new electric bell (the one that blew the main 10 amp fuse to the power supply). I get a wavering reading from .05 to -.05 on the multimeter when the machine is powered. However, when I reach the bonus rounds when the bell is supposed to ring I get no variation whatsoever in the reading. Can someone confirm the multimeter is set up correctly to read voltage fed to the bell?
