Default How many balls can a modern machine hold

I have a popeye pachinko machine and want to fill it to the brim with balls. How many can a machine hold if you fill both the front tray and payout hopper?

most machines will hold 1000 in the back hopper give or take..

the front shooter tray will hold 100 to 150.. if ya pile the front up then a bit more

    1000 balls wont last long..

since ya have the balls bought ya should consider a top ball holder for the extra balls

Do you have a link or picture of one? Not sure what a top loader looks like. I was thinking if there was a way to add a bigger bucket in the back to hold the rest. Thanks for the heads up

The stand will hold more balls above and collect the waste balls in a tray below, (probably)

Ok i see now. Looks cool but a lot of work. I was thinking more along the lines of using a paintball hopper screwed into a bracket in the back that would feed into the payout hopper it would be cheap take like 10 min. to set up and a paintball hopper would hold at least another 1000.

Make sure you take into account the weight of the balls when you design. You need to make sure your bracket and hopper can stand up to the weight and also that the weight won't throw off the balance of the machine, making it more likely to tip and break. The designs in the photos spread the weight out over the entire top of the machine and keep the weight centered over the machine. Your idea may be a very easy and low cost way to add capacity, especially for those that don't have woodworking experience . Looking forward to seeing your update.

I used to think that!...It's really not that hard or a lot of work, I built this one recently with not much more than a $30 circular saw and a cordless drill. It took about 2 hours for cutting, drilling, and assembling the wood, another 2 hours to sand/paint and add the ball drain tube. Plus it looks much better and is more functional to play it with a cabinet. As mentioned, 1000's of pachinko balls are quite heavy, I'm not sure I would trust a Jerry rigged paintball hopper unless it was very securely supported (do they even have capacity to hold 1000+ balls?)
